anyone knows about the order in which kata is taught in the IKO 1 and Kyokushinkan -Royama organizations??OSU

This is the Technical Syllabus of Kyokushinkaikan Karate-do (this was taken from the old syllabus). White Belt [No Kyu] * Kata: Taikyoku Sono lchi & Ni, Sokugi Taikyoku Sono lchi Orange Belt 10th & 9th Kyu * Kata: Taikyoku Sono San, Sokugi Taikyoku Sono Ni & San Blue Belt 8th & 7th Kyu * Kata: Pinan Sono lchi & Ni, Sanchin Yellow Belt 6th & 5th Kyu * Kata:Pinan Sono San & Yon, Yantsu, Tsuki No Kata Green Belt 4th & 3rd Kyu * Kata: Pinan Sono Go, Taikyoku Sono Ichi Ura & Ni Ura & San Ura, Gekisai Dai, Tekki Sono lchi Brown Belt 2nd & 1st Kyu * Kata: Pinan Sono lchi - Go'Ura', Tensho, Saifa, Gekisai Sho, Tekki Sono Ni, Bo Kihon Sono Ichi Katas for lower belts are still required in higher belt promotions. Prudence requires we maintain knowledge by continuous practice of the lower belt Katas. Osu! |

Shigeru Oyama also has 10 kata`s ... i was taught he designed them for kyokushin by order of sosai but they were not incorporated into the curriculum. Shigeru Oyama later made them the basics of his Oyama Karate. Their known as kihon 1-8 and kaihan and shotai. He also has 4 tonfa and 4 bo kata`s ( i also heard about sai kata`s and 1 katana kata, but i only heard this once, cant confirm this)

Oyama karate have:
kihon1-8 kaiha shotei tonfa1-4 bo1-4 nunchaku 1 for yudansha: sai1-4 seiunchin kanku gojushihu ho |

I remembered one more and i saw you didnt mention it, but didnt Oyama Karate also have a kata called "oyama`s kumite-no-kata skite-uke" ? And your supposed to do it in pairs starting with your backs together and then during the performing of the kata you would move around eachother...

I am currently in IKO1 and am working on these
Taikyoku Sono Ichi Taikyoku Sono Ni Sokugi Taikyoku Sono Ichi Man the Sokugi is trickier than it looks and it really gives a workout compared to the punch ones. |
