Im not sure how helpful this will be but I found this and it seems to be a reasonably complete history of the Kata

That link was great!! Saved it to "favourites" Many thanks Bloke, you came up trumps again!
I wish I'd paid more attention at the Iain Abernethy seminars as he paid a lot of attention to these kata.
I seem to hear something really interesting and then go off on a tangient.
Next time I need to submit as much straight onto paper as I can remember.
Thanks again,

Thank's for the reference Bloke.

I know that Tekki Sono Ichi, Sono Ni and Sono San ,as well as the Bassai Dai,
were mainly Shotokan katas. However I never quite knew the "real"
reason why Tekkis were later integrated in Kyokushin.
That's something I would have liked to learn or read more about in details.

The way Tekkis are performed (moving sideways...) differ a lot from
all other "conventional" Kyokushin katas, though I personally had no real
problem learning to master them.
People often keep asking me to teach them Tekkis and I guess the best
scoop I could give them (just like for any katas) was to do like I did.
Try to understand the logic behind the moves, not just try to copy or memorize the steps. That's the key...
Therefore knowing more about the origins of katas is indeed something I always found very interesting and rewarding. At least it gives you a very good idea of what you're doing and why...

Thanks for the links.

Tekki (naihanchi) kata (ichi, ni, san) is conditioning kata, like sanchin...the difference between naihanchin and sanchin is : the purpose of sanchin is to hardening the muscles and train the breath,.naifanchin train the speed and body movements (tai sabaki)
oops..one thing, the bunkai of naihanchin is very brutal and cheat..

Could you explain the "cheat" comment?

Osu!

here is an interesting article from Iain Abernethy regarding the Tekki/Naihanchi kata
Iain Abernethy.com - Articles
He does not share the view that it is a muscle strengthening/breathing exercise.

the bunkai of naihanchin (and alot of shuri-te kata) is brutal, dirty (maybe this word is more suitable than cheat...), and this is very effective for street fighting...the targets are not deadly or vital points of enemy, but the parts that can make our enemy lose their concentration, like eyes, ears, throat, etc.
when the enmy lose their concetration, its time for the real attack like ura tsuki chudan (naihanchi shodan) or mawashi empi jodan (naihanchi nidan)...
that's for naihanchi shodan and nidan, i don't have found the "real" bunkai of naihanchi sandan yet......could anyone tell me?
(sorry about my english..)
