IKO1 Sokugi Taikyoku Ichi?
What is the correct version of this kata?
I was taught it with Mae Giri. This one On Youtube has a different kick. YouTube - Sokugi Taikyoku sono Ichi Kyokushinkai kata Help me k4l forum. You are my only hope! |

Weird.
I looked online and it seems that some do Mae Giri and some Mae Kaege and then fliped to Ni and Vice Versa!? Color me confused! |

What about the kicks to the sides.
I was taught the keage/geri/soto&uci progression. We were also taught kansetsu geri for sono ichi, and yoko geri for ni & san. |

Osu! Seienchin,
I think you're correct. I do admit to trying to have three different levels on the Yoko Geri, just to work those muscles a bit more. Not being as flexible as in my youth, I think every opportunity needs to be taken on side kicks. (That said, mine are more of a low, slightly less low, and not quite as low. )Osu!

Osu! I agree with sokaiya and seienchin on the kicks. The only additional bit is that when you make the cross the left arm is in front of the right arm when you turn left, and right arm is in front of the left arm when you turn right.

Is that right? Good to know! Thank you. Osu!

Yes, quite sure of it. The other place you see this is in Pinan Sono Yon when you make the cross, mae geri, and double punch. Osu!

Yeah, I'm keen on these little details these days. I'm striving for that technical perfection in the Kihon and Kata so I'd LOOOVE to hear anymore of these if you have. I'll soak it right up like a sponge. =] Osu! Thank you again!

I got some videos from the LA Kyokushin Dojo and they are from IKO1 I think Pre-IKO1 though. They have the Sokugi Taikyoko Sono Ichi with the Mae Giri. Now was that Kata somehow changed since I am guessing the early 1990's?

I found this version.
This is the same way the one from the LA Dojo(Hamamoto) Videos have it. YouTube - kyokushin |

Osu Seieshin,
In sokugi taikykuko sono go, the lateral movements are always: Yoko geri jodan (kakiwake uke, zen kutsu dachi), Mae tobi geri with the back leg. Sorry about that... OSU! |
