For your information, Sato Ken (a big fighter from Yokohama I guess) will be in a freshman fight on the same event. This is his K-1 debut and let us all cheer for him and Glaube!
OSU!

It will be a pity to have Glaube fight Semi in the final if it comes out that way, it will be a pretty boring fight. Honestly I would rather watch dwarf wrestling than watch Schult fight. A waste of Glaubes formidable skill.

Next question... what's the story with ticketing? Is it likely to be sold out already? How much are the tickets & where does one get them?

I have already got my ticket! Anybody else going to this event? Price is 4000 yen. (Or 22000-35000 Yen if you wanna get sweat and blood on you at ringside) Got mine a while ago, just to be sure. Looks like there is still tickets, need better Japanese reading to be sure.
Event is held at Tokyo dome. DEC 2 (not 1) I am not sure about Bonjansky, think that match is a wild card.

Unberievable! I'm supposed to fly out of Tokyo on Fri 1st! There for a week (staying 5 min from TOKYO DOME!) to see watch a Smackgirl thing on Wed. What a nonce!
If I can alter my flight & get a ticket I'll stay for sure! |

Personally, my bet is that the grand final will be between Glaube and Jerome. -probably with Jerome as the 2006 champion (I feel like a traitor admitting this).

Another fight that I look forward to is dutch Semmy Schilt vs Frenchman Jerome Le Banner. Shilt has been booth European Karate Champion and Daido Juku Hokutoki Champion, so he sure has a solid background for this. On the other hand I watched Le Banner win against Korean Hong-Man Choi last time and that was a fight to remember. Korean Hong-Man Choi is a giant (7 feet 2 inch) and Le Banner way smaller (6 feet 3 inch). If he can beat a guy twice his size he is not going to be afraid of a Daido Juku champion.

Shilt is ashihara karate (although now fighting for seidokaikan), and his kickboxing coach (Dave Jonkers) is the head of the ashihara internatonal organization.
Personaly I am very divided about his fight vs JLB. On one side Semmy is "family" and I hope he beats JLB easy. On the other hand I see Semmy as the only serious threat against Glaube, and JLB as the only one who can keep him from beating Glaube again. My dream final would be Glaube vs Semmy, with Glaube winning. But I dont see Glaube having figured out a way to beat the giant (I DO see how he could have picked up a fear of him after last years KO and point loss), and I REALY want to see Glaube as the 2006 champion. But then again, I also think JLB will beat glaube -so maybe I should hope Semmy defeats JLB afterall. One thing is clear. It will be a interesting event!!

Choi hon-man has a serious blood clot in his left thigh and he is not going to make it to this year's K-1 GP.

The TV channel eurosport will broadcast it in their swedish sub channel, but not live. Eurosport does not have the money to buy it live. The delay will be about 2-3 weeks.
Traditionally, eurosport shows the k-1 final during the Christmas holiday.

I believe it will be December 29th. I'll be rooting for Glaube Feitosa and Takumi Sato. If not Feitosa then JLB or Hoost. And i hope JLB beats Semmy

They have now made 3 opening fights official, several karate fighters involved.
#Hiraku Hori (boxer) VS Kyoung Suk Kim (korean sumo) #Mitsugu Noda (SeidoKaikan karate) VS Junichi Sawayashiki (to me unknown background) #Takumi Sato (kyokushin karate) VS Tsutomu Takahagi (karate, but I dont know which style) The Hori vs Suk Kim fight is pretty uninteresting -the korean sumo guy didnt impress me much in this years k-1 korea, but the other fights are interesting enough. I sort of suspect that I will never get to see them, opening fights are seldom shown anywhere, but interesting fights never the less. Takumi fought in last years ichigeki, (where he drew with Hajime Moriguchi under kickboxing rules) but I dont know much else about him. Takahagi has 3 fights and 3 losses in k-1, but apart from fighting out of Team dragon with karate as style, there is no info to be found in english. Mitsugu Noda fights out of the silver axe team, with seidokaikan as style. I dont have any ifo on him either, except that he has 3 k-1 fights with 3 KO wins (one vs Takahagi). one of the fights was in k-1 max though, so I suspect he is to small to hang successfully in regular k-1 against the big guys ("big" taken literally in this case).

Dear Martin H,
Takahagi is a fighter from "Team Dragon/Ryu Dojo", which is operated by kickboxing legend Maeda Kensaku (Notable fighters from Team Dragon in all these years include Michael Mcdonald and Yanagisaki Ryushi). And he was the heavyweight champion of K-2 GP (organized by the Shinkarate group) in 2005 (the winner in 2004 was Kamikaze Yuki, whom Peter Graham just fought in Macau). ![]() As for Noda, he has student sumo background before he started kickboxing. He is also nicknamed "Hoost Musashi" and it speaks for his ambition in K-1. Both Shihan Minatani (who coaches most Seidokaikan fighters in K-1) and Tanigawa (producer of K-1) say this fighter has very strong punches and good stamina. Not much information on Sawayashiki. Just know that he is from the same "Ryu Dojo" as Takahgi and he also has judo background. And he got the second place in the shinkarate K-2 GP in which Kamikaze Yuki was the champion. He is the current heavyweight champion of "J-Network", a kickboxing sanctioning organization in Japan. ![]() OSU!
