K-1 2007 final ***SPOILER***
Reserve fight
Mighty Mo vs Poul Slowinsky. Winner Slowinsky by Leg kick TKO quarter final 1 JLB vs Choi. Winner JLB (dont know how) Quarter final 2 Glaube Feitosa vs Semmy Schilt. Winner Shilt by dec after a very good fight by both. This was NOT the walkover for Semmy some expected. quarter final 3 Remy Bonjasky vs Badr Hari. Winner Remy by dec after a war. Quarter final 4 Peter Aerts vs Junichi Sawayashiki. Winner Aerts by quick KO after a steamroll Semi final 1 JLB vs Semmy. Winner Semmy after JLB gets injured and the towel comes in. Semi final 2 Remy vs Aerts. Winner Aerts by dec after a total war. Note, so far it is going more or less exactly as I said it would in another thread (except I thought Junichi would lose on dec, not ko). I should have put money on this. Not that I think I would have gotten great odds. Still to go: Superfight Musashi vs Dancrade Final Semmy vs Aerts.

post fight comments by feitosa sensei
please give me your thoughts about the match. for fans it should be a good match. but good results did not happen to me. if i do not train harder... what about damage? i did not care about physical damage. at the end my nose was bled by punches. but i say it once more, in a match these i do not care about. no problems. what difficulties you had in the match? i think they are the sames thing those who fight semmy have to face. semmy has long arms and legs so it is difficult to stay close to him. and his hiza geri is good. after the hit with high kick, have your possibilties expanded in the future? there are not fighters which cannot be defeated. that was spoken with the whole team though. but it was too high. if it was a bit lower i should be able to kick him in the neck and knock him down. OSU!

Unless K-1 finds someone like Ignashov i think Schilt will be like 5 times K-1 champion. He's very tall for most fighters and has good technique. I liked his fight against Feitosa. That was the second if not the first best fight after Hari vs Bonjasky.
Felt pretty bad for Aerts. That was just an awfull way to lose. Hope he recover soon. He was one of the few who could beat Schilt in this tournament.

Feitosa was able to stun Schilt with his tate kubi geri but it wasn«'t enough powerfull to cause a KO

Actually i like this year GP despite the injuries of Jerome Le Banner and Peter Aerts.
I think Jerome can beat Semmy. He was really impressive (compare to his last fights) against Choi. He was going forward, pushing the action. This is the only way to beat someone who is taller than you. If you stay outside, you lose. Too bad he injured himself. I was rooting for him big time. Bonjaski won the fight with Hari. They may have given a draw but they could not give Hari the win. Bonjaski blocked almost everything Hari thrown. Bonjaski low kicks were effective. So effectiveness was for Bonjaski. That was a very technical fight. I was impressed with Schilt in his fight against Feitosa. He was doing more attacks than he usually did in one year (LOL). He was trying lots of differents kicks (ushiro geri, jodan mawashi geri, ushiro mawashi geri,...). I don't think i've seen him throw one mae geri (he's known for using almost only mae geri during his fights). It would have been cool to see Peter win or to have a Jerome/Peter final. I hope the injuries are not too serious. It would be a shame not to see them fighting next year at their full capabilities. Osu

Schilt is the first fighter to win the K-1 GP 3 times in a row. That's quite an accomplishment.
Glad that Glaube fought well but it would have been nice to see him advance further. |

I believe the Hari / Bonjasky fight should have atleast been a draw (if not Hari win)
Hari won the first round....second round abit closer - draw or Hari win.....third obvious Bonjasky round. How can you give that fight to Bonjasky...what a crock |

Osu!
Glaube put up a great fight against Semmy, he really deserved an extra round imo. Also I think that Semmy got a little bit lucky this year, JLB looked as if he was going to KO Shilt until that damn injury, and Aerts got injured in the final also. Semmy Shilt is a great champion, but somehow I see his era coming to an end, hopefully. or maybe I'm all wrong? ![]() |

This year Semmy was the man to beat... all the fighters will be trying to catch up op him, training with big fighters... Beating Semmy will be the "thing" to accomplish next year i guess. Glaube came close , but not nearly close enough... semmy lacks explosing (like badr hari has)... I really would have liked to see the fight between Aerts and Schilt go three or four full rounds... dont know what would happen... aerts is big enough to fight schilt, le banner was doing great with his movement.. untill he got hit on the chin....

Got to finally watch a recording of the Finals last night.
I thought the best fight of the night was Remy vs. Badr. All that bad blood translated into a fantastic 3 rounds of quick and powerful technique. Remy was instrumental with the low kick. It was amazing to watch. The Glaube and Semmy fight was also great, and it was even more obvious on my big screen (vs. watching it on YT) that his near 2nd round knockdown was an amazing opportunity to seal Semmy's doom. The big man sure knows how to kick the jodan... there were so many that just zoomed past Semmy's face. I hope Glaube continues his run at the title next year. Question, what happened to Peter's knee in the final match with Semmy? It looked like it may have been related to his fight against Remy. |
