Ewerton Teixeira fights in K-1 2008?

On 1/30, a press conference for "K-1 WGP 2008" was held at the headquarters of Fuji TV at Odaiba, Tokyo.

This special meeting will be shown at the Kakutogi show "SRS". At the press conference Asakusa Kid and Nishiyama Maki (5th SRS Beauty Queen) were also seen and they talked to Head Producer Tanigawa Sadaharu.

When asked what kind of "big magic" will he be pulling off this year, Tanigawa answered, "I want to bring up new talents so we will not always be seeing the same people. As for the entry of "key players", there are many "love calls" to be send to these players. I want to select a must-have player for K-1 this year.

"K-1 is Andy Hug, Francisco Filho. The "K" of K-1 is Karate. Now we do not see Karateka. Glaube Feitosa and Semmy Schilt are also Karateka but they are converted to kickboxers and become strong. Are Andy and Filho not Karateka to the last minute? I would like to invite this person to come out." said Tanigawa. Asakusa Kid commented "Is this person the world champion at the other side of the Earth?".

Tanigawa continued "I have already sent a love call to this person and I hope that he will come out no matter what.". Though he has not been telling names, these words are sure to be directing at Ewerton Teixeira, who became the world champion of Kyoushin last year.

Then after the shooting of the show was finished, Tanigawa said "I have expressed my wishes to Matsui Kancho, but after all the decision has to be made by Teixeria himself. I want to bring out another "key player" after Filho. I have been to the world tournament of Kyokushin and think there are a lot of talents. I want to also put Andrews Nakahara and all other Brasil members in K-1. There are not enough Karateka in K-1, Andy Hug is gone.".

It would be great to see Teixeira in K-1. I think he would do really well. I also know that Jan Soukup is currently starting to train for K-1 so we could see some very good Kyokushin fighters in ring soon.

Ewerton Teixeira has been training for K-1 for some while. I think he'll show up as soon as Filho and others find him prepared. Andrew Nakahara, Lechi Kurbanov and Jan Soukup would also be nice adds to K-1.

I have to say i feel glad that mr. Tankikawa realized that more Karateka are necessary in K-1. I also hope he looks for other Karate styles such as Shidokan, Daido and Shinbukan.

K-1 to me is all about guys like Andy Hug, Peter Aerts, Francisco Filho, Ernesto Hoost, Jerome Lebanner, Ray Sefo, Glaube Feitosa, Mark Hunt, Sam Greco, Alexey Ignashov, Remy Bonjasky, Semmy Schilt and Mirko Filipovic.

I'm getting tired of watching the same old heavyweights fight one another. It's time for some new blood and Teixeira would be a super addition. I hope he enters the fray in 2008 under the Kyokushinkaikan banner.

I agree with Sonik, Kurbanov would be a great addition and potentielly Andrei Stepin.

British Eurosport seem to broadcast it on their Fight Night program - usually anything from a few days to a month after the event.

Unlikely that we will see Andrey Stepin Sensei on the ring, as he said in an interview after the world tournament that he would not not fight in Kyokushin again due to career and family responsibility.

All already imagined that, after to be champion from the "World-wide Absolute one of Karatê Kyokushin Oyama", still in the end of the passed year, the life of the Brazilian fighter Ewerton Teixeira would suffer some changes. However, it was difficult to think that the transformations would arrive at such ratios. The conquest opened doors for other challenges in the career and, Teixeira, decided to accept a new route. In the dawn of yesterday, the fighter embarked for Japan, where he will initiate, beyond a new esportiva career, a total different life of that he was accustomed.
