K-1 WORLD GP 2008 in Fukuoka -Japan GP. June 29.
Sunday 29 June 2008
K-1 OFFICIAL WEBSITE The winner of the tournament goes on to the k-1 final elimination event. Reserve Fight: Tsutomu Takahagi (Shin-karate) VS Keigo Takamori (?) Tournament Fights: Akio "Musashi" Mori (seidokaikan karate) VS Keijiro Maeda (Shin-karate, kickboxing) Mitsugu Noda (formerly seidokaikan karate) VS Takumi Sato (Kyokushin karate) Ewerton Teixeira (Kyokushin karate) VS Hiraku Hori (Boxing) Yusuke Fujimoto (formerly seidokaikan karate) VS Tsuyoshi Nakasako (formerly Seidokaikan karate) Super Fight: Peter Aerts (kickboxing) VS Jan "The Giant" Nortje (kickboxing). Reflections: Sad to see Glaube not fighting (he was in the expected participating fighters" list put up by k-1 a while ago. I expected to see him in a superfight. But I guess there is still time for a last minute "change" to the fightcard to get good media. Good lineup from a knockdown karate family point of view. 4 seidokaikanfighters, 2 kyokushin fighters and one shin-karate guy among the 8 tournament fighters. Aerts trains with Gordeau and IBK (although not as his main training) in Holland, Nortje trains with the team ichigeki when in Japan. so both of them could be said to be "extended family". I dont really see Nortje walking away as winner against Aerts, though. Who is Keigo Takamori?? I have never heard of him. Where is Taiei Kin? He deserve a place in the tournament, or at least in the reserve fight, much more than some who are in it. Looking good for Teixeira. Lets hope he fights better than in his first fight (and slims down a bit. He had bulked up way too much for k-1, and looked heavy and slow). Why cant seidokaikan keep their top fighters fighting for the seidokaikan organization? why do most of them fight as independents.

Hori Hikaru was a Daidojuku fighter and I think he is branded as a "Karate" more than a "Boxing" fighter. Perhaps different at the English website?
Takamori Keigo used to be a strong competitor in Judo at national level. OSU!

I have NEVER heard anything about that before! Very Interesting. Thanks! BTW that means that everyone in the tournament comes from a karate background. Interesting. Keigo = judoka. thanks. Good info. As always, you got the good fighter info I cant find elsewhere :-)

The card seems ok but (without any disrespect) i'm not really fond of Fujimoto and Nortje. I just don't like the way they fight. They seem too sloppy for my taste. I also hope Teixeira shows up with better preparation. This time it's going to be harder but hopefully he can win this thing. If not him then maybe Takumi Sato. Lets see what he's made of.
And i agree, Feitosa should be on this card. All his fights look interesting even if he lose. Osu!

K1-/FEG never give out a complete fightcard. They give out a partial fightcard and then add fights during the remaining period to give the media and fans something to write about. To keep the interest&hype up. It is good PR. I would be very surprised if they do not add a "last minute" superfight or two before fight day.

Aerts vs Nortje???!!! This smacks of Aerts vs Sapp. Yes, Nortje is big, but that's about all there is to recommend him. I have yet to see one of his fights and think, "Ah, now there's a contender." Osu!

Wait, no one has said that Feitosa Sensei is not on the card.
According to a report about the press conference few days ago, Feitosa and Schilt are still listed as "participating fighters". They will still fight in the event according to latest updates. OSU!

Ok then. That's good news if Feitosa is still in. Too bad Aerts is facing Nortje. Hari or Leko would be a much better opponent.

![]() When asked about his impression of Ewerton Teixeira in his debut fight, Musashi said "It was rough. He had natural horsepower, and an horrible unknown side. He is different from Glaube and Filho. Glaube counters heavy attacks. He has very sharp techniques rather than high number of attacks. Glaube gradually paces up his fight. Filho and Glaube represent hardness and softness respectively, and it seems like Teixeira is a combination of both. OSU!

I would be really interested to see Teixera vs Sato in the final. Two Kyokushin fighters going at it in K-1 rules.
