Ok folks, you're in the 1st minute of a match and down by wazari, what are the tricks of the trade to getting back on track
. Do you go mental, trying for a knockdown straight away or you you pace yourself? Am referring to the cases in which the effects of the wazari are very short- like getting winded for 2-3 seconds. Any tips? ![]()

). If I try to just rush in, I feel there is a much greater possibility of getting another shot at me.I've been down a wazari and come back several times now, and it just goes better the more I can keep my cool. |

I'd see if I can lure him. Sometimes victory can be had by feinting the weakness. A few back steps, and usually the guy tries to capitalize on the Wazari. This won't necessarily work on the smarter fighters though. They may try and protect the lead. Then it's time to sacrifice caution and attack with minimal reserve. Osu!

got to go with Dent here - I'd draw them into to thinking they had you and get them to over commit - never really fought anyone in Knockdown who was happy with a wazari lead - it's too risky and they always want to finish you off

I guess it depends on how much time is left in the match. If you're down 1 wazari to 0 points and there is less than 30 seconds left in the match you had better be "swinging for the fences". Another option would be to try to draw a gentan from your opponent but I don't condone that course of action.

You could dive at the fist, or just dive from the fist. "Aarrghh! Right in the eye!" (Peek between fingers and roll around. Basically, act like a professional football [soccer] player.) ![]() Osu!

On the other hand if you score a wazari and still has some fights to go. Do you want to finish or just fight it out without taking risk?

It may be that they just got in a lucky hit (kick, etc). Pull yourself back together and refocus twice as much, if you think you are out of your league... then you are. As a post I was reading in the last few days by Spirit says you have to conquer the mind (your own, not theirs). If you are obviously as not a good fighter, then try to be twice as vigilant in analysing why your opponent is better, what skills they have that you need to work on to improve. Just my two cents.

If I'm on the scoring side, I do have a tendency to work that spot, either to finish it, or to open something else. At the very least, I want him on the back foot for the rest of the round. Osu!

Well, I'm no good at that at the best of times, but I really don't like seeing that sort of behaviour in the ring/ on the mat. Osu!

For the most part if you are not combative the ref will give you a rollicking. Although to be fair if I'm up I'm going to be very defense minded.
