it was a superfight. bareknuckle superfights are usually 3 rounds (2 to 3 min). in tournaments can be 2 rounds preliminaries and 3 for final matches. i have seen several done different ways. it's up to the shihan hosting.

I know it is off topic, but do you know of any plans to spread Shidokan in the USA outside of Chicago and Atlanta? I read of plans for a Las Vegas dojo but I do not believe that has materialized, and I have not heard any other cities mentioned.

there is no vegas dojo coming that i know of. US Shidokan is looking to promote Shidokan events in Las Vegas (Shihan Yoshimura, now has a Nevada promoters license). Joey Indrieri (1999 and 2000 Shidokan Team USA Heavyweight Champ) lives in Vegas, but does not run a dojo. He trains at a a few different gyms though. Most of the Shidokan karateka in the US live in Illinois (near Chicago), where the honbu is (run by Shihan Eddie Yoshimura, U.S. Branch Chief). Shihan Matsumoto, is in Arlington, IL and there are a couple of other dojos in the Chicago area. There are some black belts in New Jersey, Denver, and Atlanta, who train at different places, and may have small groups who train with them. I am in Atlanta, where I run a dojo (where I have 4 black belts). Shidokan is small in the US, as are all knockdown styles. So, there is work that needs to be done by all of us in the US to educate the public about our styles of karate.

Any idea where the folk are in NJ? It would be great to have them come to the NY/NJ events, and expand the full contact connections that way!
