Ukrainian Kyokushin Training?
Can anyone explain what they are doing here... for those who might have attended this seminar?

it looks like they are using the belts as a resistance exercize. I have done this before - but it was always 1 or 2 guys holding their belt behind me as I did shadow sparring. Its a killer work-out

It also looks like he is doing Sanchin kata.

in the 2nd pic, I'd say one of the trainers is trying to kick his groin - supposedly in true sainchin dachi the inside leg muscles will stop the kick before hitting the jewels...

actually when you are in the sanchin stance, the legs should be technically blocking your groin when performing sanchin.

they should DEFINITELY not be like that. You are WAY to open for a groin kick in that stance.

Spanky is dead on with the belts and resistance training. You really should have that much tension when executing the punch and blocks when performing that kata.

Keeping everything tight: stomach, arms, and chest.

I <3 sanchin ^^b

haha, yes, his legs are definitely too far apart for the sanchin dachi.

which might be the reason why he got nailed by his sensei with a kin geri afterwards. Note his facial expression.

but I remember that I've gotten kicked with kin geri plenty of times doing sanchin dachi. Only with that would one ever learn I think!

OSU! It always seems that experience is the best teacher. The two most important things to protect are your boys and your head

very true indeed. In kumite my old dojo, the black belts would do groin kicks when fighting each other, makes you learn very quickly to protect the vulnerable areas.
