Kuma = japanese for "Bear" (as in brown bear, polar bear or grizzly bear). A alternate name for hiraken, used in some other styles is kumate "bear hand". No idea why you would name a dojo "bear dojo" though.

I was with IKO3 in Victoria
then went to IKO1 in Sydney
Now am very happy IFK member in Sydney
I have also found big differences in all 3 groups ie kata speeds and styles and stuff. Not sure if there is a thread discussing this or not

I have trained inside the same organisation in different dojo`s and have experianced difference`s in speed in the kata`s and differences in executing certain techniques... i dont think its solely between organisations....

To get back onto topic,... i am a member of the IFK, have trained in World Oyama Karate and Kyokushin Union.
