No, you're quite right, Bloke. But if we all try to uphold the best possible value system, then we'll be happy for each other's success, and open our doors to one another.

We may not all be under one banner, but we can still be Kyokushin.

I think we are as much one again as we will be.. the people that choose to work together are already doing so, the ones that arent are.. old and dying off and the groups they hold in their grips are shrinking (imho) I see and know of groups that are top down ruled with firm hand but they are loosing their key players one by one, and those arent being replaced as quick as they are leaving.....

We dont distinguish ouselves as a group (kyokushin) anymore but as individuals of a much larger body (all full contact karate practisioners).... which imho is a good thing

It's definitely interesting but mind you our forum is in English and there are heavy pockets of Kyokushin in Russia, Eastern Europe, South America, oh and not to mention that little island... Japan, that are not represented here purely due to language.

Understand what you're saying but I for one would welcome any Kyokushin practitioner to my dojo (once I'm runing one!) and treat them as per the grade they wear. I see Kyokushin as our style not IKO1,2,3,4,5,6,7, IKF, IKK etc.

PS I'm I(nterational) K(yokushinkai) K(arate) and so are at least three other forum members so if you please...

With regards to Demographics we are mostly in Southern Kent but also South London.

As do I - so long as someone wants to train what do I care who their leader is or what their badge says.

Yup! The door to our dojo is always open too! (except when we're not in!)

Must say that as far as the BKK open training days are concerned I was made very welcome; was on my own from our org with around 4 other non BKK guys and the instructors made a point of thanking us for attending, most of the guys I trained with asked me where I was from - I asked them then we trained together and then we got on with training.

The training itself was superb by the way and anyone who has the opportunity should try and get along to them.

Training at our dojo is open to all. All grades are respected. Only one rule, if you are a dan grade coasting at the front is frowned upon!At the moment we have a healthy number of non IKO1 members that train every week and we all have a good scrape together. Politics is left outside the doors of the dojo.

Nice to hear it, NiceGuy! (And I'll remember that rule! )

I am from the IBK Holland. There is much about organisations, but you are always training for yourselves, and i think kyokushin is one big family....

Osu!

I'm in the "others" category. I'm in WYKKO - World Yoshukai Karate and Kobudo Organization led by Kaicho Yamamoto.
