uchideshi
I've always wonder what the uchideshi student do when they complete all their training? I think that they should fight in professional fighting promotion as they have dedicated their lives to karate.

Most become professional instructors, at least for some time. Not all wish to compete professionally. Nor do I think it a good idea for them to do so. If the professional instructors are all about pro fighting, who will teach? And why not just have them do fighter training, instead of the whole syllabus? Osu!

Do they earn a good living by teaching?
I agree with u but I think that there should be some fighters who represent kyokushin at pro level so as to show kyokushin supremacy.

Do you think that the fighters and the teachers should be the same people? Don't you feel that the many Kyokushin fighters are trying to represent themselves as well as their training? And I must say it again, no one style can be supreme. Only one person at a time can be the champion of an event, and I believe that it depends on the person more than the style. Osu!

I fully agree with u on the matter of supremacy. But do u think that what the mma fighters are doing nowadays are following the martial spirit. This is why I think we need some traditional fighters who would kick their ass.

And that sentence sums up at least part of the struggle I have as an Instructor - thanks Dent.

This week we're getting materials to Habitat for Humanity, and then this weekend we're helping a family with cleaning out their barn. Small things, but I'd like our folk to associate training with social responsibility, and in turn for them to be associated with positive action in the community. Osu!

They take no role in the Dojo, put in no additional effort, then they are surprised when their progress is slow. My own take on social responsibility is more twofold. Firstly, I want members who think of more than just themselves. Secondly, I want to counter some of the negative image that the public has of Karate. If we are going to claim character development, we better show some. ![]() Osu!
