well there were about 25 of us...it was a regional training session...I'd have sooner died than give up, and so would the rest of the guys...

but yakiniku and beer was never so sweet as that night, sensei swapped "omedetto gozaimasu"s with all of us...one of my best overall memories from my time in Japan...

well, that I can post here anyway...

haha... in those situations, nobody wants to be the first to quit, so everyone is just helping push each other to their absolute limit! amazing!

how long did that session actually last? with 1000 repetitions of each technique?

did you guys take any short breaks in between? (well except for the time when you had to stop to wring out your gi jacket of sweat) or was it just continuous from technique to technique?

About 3 hours, just the one break...maybe 5 minutes...and we only got that 'cuz the floor was getting slippery...wring the gi, mop the floor, go again...

OSU to that!
too bad the floor was getting too wet, or else you could have the claim that you did it non-stop!

but it'd definitely be fun to do, gotta try that one day if I get the chance.

Christmas Morning
I am fortunate to be trained one on one by Gerry Bryan, 9th Dan Traditional Tsuyoi Ryu Karate. He is the founder in the 70’s and recently was awarded his 9th Dan for commitment to Traditional karate. To emphasize this we train every Christmas morning the sea in Pagham, West Sussex at 0730. This is normal Gi’s and to make sure we get the “full experience” we even do press ups. Maybe this is how they learnt how to retract your manhood in the old days? Every one is welcome on the 25th December!

Will keep this in mind EDB - we do one down in Broadstairs in Jan which you'd be more than welcome to attend.

For my 36th birthday i decided to do everything with the number 36 in mind. So after about a 15 minute warm up run, I ran 36 intervals, with a 15 minute cool down at the end. Then I stretched for 20 minutes holding each stretch for 36 seconds. Then I did 36 reps of each machine in my circuit at the gym. My intention was to do 36 sets, but I managed to make it to 3.5 sets before crashing.

I repeated this for my 37th birthday but with the number 37 in mind.

at 38 I drank.
