Question Regarding Daido Juku Gis and Supersafe headgears
Can someone explain why some fighters have a white gi and some have a blue gi? Is there a special significance to the blue one?

I think it has similar principles to Judoka wearing different gis, just to differentiate between competitors when they tangle. Just a guess though.

It is not so compulsory in the competition one of the fighters to be in blue Gi and the other to be in a white one. The same is for the Supersafe headgears. Sometimes it happens that the one is with the red one and the other with the white one but it is not compulsory since one can also see a match with fighters both having white Gi and white Supersafe's. Daido Juku Gi and Headgear
Due to Kudo becoming an official budo sport (recognization by the Japanese government) some rules and regulations were set before the 2nd World Tournament, which was held in 2005. All Daido Juku competitors must have one blue and one white gi. All headgear must be white.
All head gear must also be supported by tie strings from ear hole to ear hole (not provided with Super Safe headgears) to prevent the mask from shifting during competition. During competition there will be one competitor in a blue gi and one in a white gi. No patches except 1 single country patch over the heart area is allowed. The size of the patch is written in a Kudo document somewhere, unfortunately I'm not sure what the official size is supposed to be. Osu, Joseph |

The tie strings (from ear hole to ear hole) were introduced to keep the mask from slipping upward when struck with any movement with an upward motion(front kick, uppercut, palm strike, etc.). The tie string not only works to stablize the mask from moving upward, but it reduces the likely hood of the mask from slipping from side to side, therefore preventing interuptions during the fight due to supersafe movement. The tie strings must be made out of cloth (cotton, nylon, polyester and not have sharp or hard edges). Thank you, Joseph |
