Yeah Pride is dead now. The only place for Filho to fight in under MMA rules now is Heros. If only K-1/Heros could pull out a well organized tournament for the 75kg, 90kg and super heavyweight divisions, by picking up top fighters from Pride, Shooto, Deep, Cage Rage i think they could as well surpass UFC in terms of quality and excitement. And i must say, this last Heros tournamet was great. Great matches indeed but i think the tournament was too small. I think they need more fighters.
Anyways here's a list of fighters who could fit in the K-1/Heros roster. -75kg Tournament: Takanori Gomi, Kid Yamamoto, Genki Sudo, Hiroyuki Takaya, JZ Calvan, Vitor Ribeiro, Caol Uno, Kotetsu Boku, Hideo Tokoro, Kazuyuki Miyata, Rumina Sato, Mitsuhiro Hishida, Ryan Bow, Shinya Haoki, Jens Pulver, Remigijus Morkevicius, Joakim Hansen, Ganjo Tenstsuku, Hayato Sakurai... -100kg Tournament: Taiei Kin, Yoshihiro Hakiyama, Melvin Manhoef, Hidehiko Yoshida, Alistair Overeem, Kazuhiro Nakamura, Dennis Kang, +100kg Tournament: Semmy Schilt, Francisco Filho, Sam Greco, Peter Aerts, Jerome Lebanner, Mark Hunt, Ray Sefo, Maiti Mo, Yosuke Nishijima, Sergey Kharitonov (and being lucky as hell) Alexander/ Fedor Emelianenko, Josh Barnett and Mirko Filipovic (after he quits UFC). I think this is possible for K-1. What do you think?

I think rather than have a 100kg limit, it should be 95kgs, and over 95 is the Super Heavyweights.
I also think that they should get serious on Steroid testing for such events. |

I agree with the steroid testing. And it should be done in an exaustive way because there are ways of misleading the test (for example, false urine etc).
95 kg might be ok. I madd that even in the heavyweight category there should be limits as well. It could go form 95 to 125kg and then from 125 to 150 kg!! In this way the weight differences would never excede 25 kg. I think that's a reasonable value.

Quote:
If you look at openweight categories like the Kyokushin World Tournament, the Boxing Heavyweight championship and the Pride/UFC championship for Heavyweights, there has never been a dominant Heavyweight fighter over 125kg. In boxing someone like Nikolay Valuev only ever won one of the Alphabet titles and then easily lost it and was never considered the main guy in boxing anyway. |

I mentioned a category above 125 for guys like Choi and Akebono. Not that i'm realy interested in watching such freak show lol. It's just that i don't wanna see them mixed with guys like Peter Aerts, Ray Sefo and Jerome Lebanner.
But if Mark Hunt was in (he's like 130kg) the limit would then be 135 kg lol.

Most of the top k-1 guys weight in at around 110kg (aerts, Hoost, bonjasky). JLb weights 120kg
Semmy weights 127/128 kg That is one of the problem the japanese have in k-1. A good japanese fighter seldom gets over 100kg, and are just too small. Musashi, arguably one of the heaviest of the japanese fighters (not counting akebono and the ones that are not really kickboxers), weights just 102 kg. Sawayashiki, the new japanese k-1 hope, and one of the few new heavyweights, barely goes over 100kg. The new stars hari, Kaerev, etc etc weights in at 100kg or just under, but then they are young and will put on more weight in time. Glaube Feitosa is actually unusually light for a veteran in the heavyweight k-1 with his 100kg.

Hey Thiago, do you have any news on Chiquinho? Is he just training students from now on or does he plan to have some more fights before retiring? It would be really nice to see him in K-1 or MMA, as long as he's well prepared.

Yes I have my man. No he doesn't just training students no, he still training hard, he was defy in MMA and will fight soon, and never will retiring, then in the KYOKUSHIN none retiring, K-1 I don't know if he will fight, because he's the INCHIGEKI president and perhaps will can do fights like he did against Remy Bonkasky, like K-1 vs. INCHIGEKI. But he's still in the action.
[edit] English Please. Sim tenho sim meu caro. Last edited by kyokushin4life; 10-31-2007 at 12:48 AM. |

Nice no know that. But has he received a proposition recently ? And by who? K-1 Heros? By the way it would be nice to have more Ishigeki events. A tournament format would be great (with local tournaments in Japan, Korea, China, Russia, UE, USA and Brasil). But that of course requires a lot of capital and a functional structure to pull it out.

He's always receiving a proposition, but he can't agree all. He's receiving by all tournament fights of the world. K-1 heroes he also receiving, but he can't fight in this tournament because he is a INCHIGEKI president, every years have a INCHIGEKI event, in BRASIL, japan, in the next will have a INCHIGEKI event in USA and EUROPE. In BRASIL have the better structure and best fighters, is present in the tournament: Brazilian top team, macaco gold team, gracie-barra, pantera gold team, the best fighters of brasil are in this event, in japan have a lot fans of INCHIGEKI tournament. You can see what I said here. Ichigeki Brasil - By "Shihan" Francisco Filho
