Quote:
For example Matsui in kyokushinkaiKAN is KANcho. "-cho" is a suffix that follows a certain structure, so it follows JUKU from Daido JUKU and the word that is formed is JUKUcho. |

"長"
This is the kanji in question. Cho.... When attached to another character, it implies leadership responsibility vapor |

Same goes for Taisho (meaning general). Sho here means leader or someone who's above.

In this case yes "leader of a juku".
And all his students are properly referred as "jukusei". OSU!

A Juku is sort of a private school.
"Daido" of Daido Juku comes from the buddist saying "Daido Mumon". This is also the name of the Daido Juku official magazine. "Daido Mumon" (literally translated as "for the big way there is no door") actually comes from another very long buddist saying which is difficult to translate, but it basically tells people that "to achieve great understanding there is no single but thousands of ways". Dear ojgsxr6,
"Kakatootoshi" (not "Daido Juku") means "heel drop". (please keep this thread kudo-focused )OSU!
