I saw the fight, thank god, or I would have been very upset seeing this forum post. Next time, you should maybe say *UFC 70 spoiler alert* Even though it was a "free" UFC, some people might have had to work or were otherwise engaged and couldn't see it.

I guess Mirko was a bit stunned by those elbow strikes in the ground. That kick was not so hard to block in my view....

Huge disappointment. Even huger for the UFC. They paid a ton of money to have Mirko fight Tim Sylvia. But, they waited and he lost to Couture, and now Mirko loses to some no-name BJJ dude. This Gonzaga character is going to beat Couture and become even more unpopular then Sylvia....Man the UFC sucks sometimes. I hate it when my guy loses!

Mirco was distracted and he didn't take UFC seriousely. You can see the weeks before the fight he was having fun with Van Damme and doing a lot of charity work in Croatia. He is a huge star there and the pressure is high.
On his website there is a statement that he lost because of the way he fought , and that he will be back .
Look at Arlovski in the previous fights with Silvia , we all know who's the better fighter , yet he lost ...but now is back.
That's the warrior way , you win , you lose ...but you keep fighting until you feel that you still have it in you. ( I just came back from watching 300 , so I'm pumped).
Anyways , GSP lost , Crocop lost - but they are great champions and they will regain their titles.

I know I was shocked when I saw this fight but I can't take anything away from Gonzaga. He went in with intentions to win and pulled it off, using Mirko's own weapon against him.
I don't think Gonzaga will be as unpopular as Tim Sylvia, Gonzaga has some good skill. Sylvia is just a tall guy with crappy skill, imo. I hope to see Mirko come back and beat Gonzaga.

I agree, elbow on the ground was too much for Cro-Cop. He did not look like himself when stand back up. Hope he will adapt to the UFC rule.
