UFC79 V.Silva vs. Liddel + GSP vs. Hughes
I'm looking forward to this Saturday's fight of Vanderlei Silva and Chuck Liddel. The whole MMA world has been waiting for this matchup. Best of UFC and Pride Light-Heavyweights finally toe-to-toe. Also on the card is the rematch of GSP and Matt Hughes. I hope GSP gives it to Hughes again.

I gotta go with Silva over Liddel. I'll admit I'm a Liddel "hater" so I'm hoping he gets knocked out.
Go GSP! Osu! |

i don't know about Hughes but Lidell has a certain charisma. He looks like he came out from a japanese comic book (kakuto manga) being a sort of anti-hero. I don't know about his attitue outside the cage though so i won't comment his personality.
GSP has a Kyokushin background so i'm rooting for him. He's not like some others who go out bashing their opponents with public insults. But i guess that's also part of UFC propaganda.

Spoiler
*SPOILER*
I was surprised Lidell won..Silva didn't really clinch and knee is what I was expecting..kudos to Lidell, surprised the hell out of me. GSP used some good wrestling and BJJ against Hughes; Hughes was verbally submitting, it was great. Machida did awesome, I'm glad they televised this fight of his; it was cool seeing him submit Soukidjou.

Congratulations to GSP! (We all knew you would win.)
I'm surprised to hear that Lidell won his fight against Silva. Maybe I should have put some bets down on him... right, guty? |

He armbarred Hughes...in an awesome fashion, too. He outwrestled Hughes, was ground and pounding Hughes, beat him at his own game. Hughes beat GSP before by armbar and GSP just avenged that by armbarring Hughes, go figure.

I watched the fight it was very good. Not as much striking or kicks as I expected but GSP has been working on his wrestling for the past year. He really did beat Hughes at his own game. GSP threw Hughes around at will, there was a beautiful judo throw that set up the submition.
I am a big GSP fan, he's Canadian and Kyokushin but I am not a Hughes hater by any means. I hope that Hughes has a few more fights in him. It was great to see UFC list GSP as a Kyokushin Black Belt in the pre-fight states, they never used to do that. ![]() |
