Ufc 81
Any comments on Mir vs Lesnar in UFC 81. Obviously this will be jui jitsu/wrestling match, neither guy is known for there striking. I am really want to see how Lesnar (former WWE champion) does in a MMA event. I have never really considered WWE to be legit but Lesnar is huge and looks fast.

Exactly as you said. As long as Brock doesn't try to strike he should be okay. I have a feeling that Brock is going to pull this one off and win.
Lesnar is a quality wrestler and many UFC guys got there starts in wrestling: Matt Hughes and Randy Couture to name a few.

I'd look at the fact that Lesnar was a D1 NCAA champion and a runner up the year before he was champion more so then the fact he was a pro wrestler.
I'd also look at the fact that his opponent Frank Mir was once UFC champion before a near fatal motorcycle wreck. Frank Mir also is awesome at BJJ and not half bad of a striker...his submission game is sick for that weight class. I'm rooting for Nog to tap out Tim Sylvia...I'm really not a Sylvia fan.

Tim Sylvia has the tools but he is one of the most boring fighters I have watched. UFC has been replaying the fight where Mir breaks Sylvia's forearm. I don't think Mir will be able to pull off an arm bar like that on Lesnar.
As much as I want to see these fights I just can't justify the $40.00 to watch on PPV. I bought the St. Pierre vs Hughes but it also had Liddell vs Silva, a much better card than UFC 81. |

i say Mir can pull this off. maybe not easily but he can definitely pull it off.
i think lesnar is probably gonna be the same as all the other guys that the ufc has overhyped. hes going to have a bizarre training regiment and show up huge as hell only to lose. houston alexander was gonna be the 'next big thing' until his lack of ground skills were exposed. monson was going to be the strongest guy to fight sylvia until he lost the decision. its like these guys are just missing something. im not willing to bet on size alone. |
