Judo.. was a compulsory martial art which all students had to learn in my highschool in Japan. I never got interested in it but it does have many interesting and unique techniques.

I would like to get back into it as well. There are tons of good folks around here in the Bay, but they are kinda far away

Judokas are good at throwing, that is what they train for. The best way to defeat one is never to let them get the grip on you. It is aways fun to try different styles

i've often heard it is part of the japanese curriculum... how many years is this? if it is all of high school that means a good chunk of kids are walking around with shodans then, doesn't it - high school being 5 years?

Osu!
I used to love Judo, but IMO, the constant revision of the rules so as to please the spectators has killed it for me. (Add to that the wide varieties of grappling training now available, and I don't see Judo being where it was ever again.) Osu!
