The DREAM.2 Main Event features living legend Kazushi Sakuraba of Japan, who will take on Brazilian Andrews Nakahara, a kyokushin fighter 14 years his junior.
"I thought I thought that at 84 kg [185 lbs], I was too light for K-1," said Nakahara. "so I started preparing for mixed martial arts, with a jiu-jitsu trainer, about six months ago My teacher Francisco Filho has also been helping me, and I'm honored and motivated to fight Sakuraba. I believe I've prepared very well and I'm confident I can defeat him, hopefully I'll KO him with strikes." Sakuraba believes he's also ready. "If Nakahara says that he can KO me, let him try. All I know is that he's a Karate fighter, it seems his fists are hard as a rock. I didn't prepare anything in particular for Karate fighters, but I will let him control the fight, that's all. I will just fight my usual fight, find a way to take him down and so on. One request for Mr. Nakahara -- if you are going to KO me, don't do it with a bunch of low kicks -- just hit me hard and make me unconscious instantly!" |

For your info a report off the Nakahara Sakuraba fight:
Nakahara kicked Sakuraba very hard. The low kicks were good. Nakahara had a very good take down defense. Nakahara kicked Saku in the groins. Saku tries to take him down. A Nakahara low-kick seems to hurt Sakuraba, but he holds on to Nakahara now. Nakahara is hard to keep down. Andrews Stands up again. Nakahara is pushing Sakuraba around along the ropes. The ref breaks them up and Sakuraba gets the fight on the ground for the first time. Saku in side mount. Nakahara scrambles back up. Sakuraba gets another take down and is in Nakahara's guard now. Sakuraba goes for a leg lock, but Nakahara defends. Now Sakuraba get side control. Sakuraba is punishing Nakahara with punches, but Nakahara is defending well. Sakuraba squeezed and cranked Nakahara's face until it slipped down into a choke. Nakahara taps. Saku wins. It was like a 2 second instant blackout for Nakahara. Well a great debute for Nakahara in the mma. He made a good impression. Saku´s legs were hurt by the low kicks off Nakahara. Saku wins by crank choke. Too bad he lost. He was doing ok untill Sakuraba got in side control, meaning he needs to improve a lot his ground defense. But in the end, it's not bad at all for someone who had only six months of preparation. I'm sure he'll come back stronger and even more motivated. He already revealed he has good potential, now he only has to develop it.
I also hope Kansho Matsui and Shihan Filho promote more Ishigeki events so that Kyokushin fighters get more used to MMA and K-1 rules before entering other professional rings. Osu!

Osu! Sublimo,
Thanks for that report. I know many of us were waiting for the result. Pity that he didn't win, but it sounds as though he made a good effort. Osu!
