Great vid even if the MMA kick tag is a bit rich IT'S PRONOUNCED "MAWASHI GERI CHUDAN"
![]() So it has a power factor of 2.1 and a car is unsafe at 1.0 so if you extrapolate the data (as hey didn't on the show which would have been fun)... being kicked by Bas is like being run over by a car going very fast ![]() Yet again you see at the end that Bas is all about being a good fighter with a sense of humor ![]()

Yes, it's debatable if there is such thing as a "MMA kick", as that is a pretty wide term. But that is definatelly a good mawashi geri.
![]() The numbers isn't really that surprising. A car might have greater force than Bas' kick, but it is spread out over a larger area. I did some calculations in physics once, that proved that a light woman in high heels produced a much larger pressure on the floor, than a full-grown elephant would.

, you're liable to find out how much it would hurt if an elephant stood on the more delicate areas of your body. The thing with this test Nix is it is relevant when you are talking about the impact suffered by the cars occupants, which is what the car safety test is used for i.e. anything above 1.0 releases the air bag (educated guess, so don't shoot me if it's wrong). So to deal with this kick you need a couple of air bags. "You could take a mawashigeri from Bas with those things!" Should also be avoided as an opening line ![]() My appologies to the laddies of the forum, it just came to me, I'm sorry, really sorry ![]()

Osu! tmd,
Yes, I was also wondering if this comment from Nix came from personal experience (ouch)? ![]() Osu! |

Woah, woah. I'm not poointing fingers at anyone in particular, it's a scientific experiment! I'm not Olrac, mind. If you have a problem with the "petite woman" analogy, just substitute it for "Olrac", if the mental image of him in high heels is not too disturbing.

![]() But the part of me wearing high heels.....Neh, don't think so. Can't make a proper mawashi wearing those things. I can't imagine walking on it too. I guess my ankles would break after a step or two. I stick to my nikes and army boots ![]() ![]() Quote:

![]() There are so many people out there who are not a positive image for the Martial Arts. I don't feel that way about Bas Rutten. He is a man who is capable of being hard, but he doesn't need to be hard all the time. He has achieved a remarkable record in a very hard arena, and yet all his self-promotion has an element of jest about it. The joke demonstration is an example of a guy who doesn't feel that a little clowning around is going to hurt him. It's entertainment, and that's all that most demonstrations are ever going to be. You are quite welcome to your opinion (Although, as Vapor mentioned, Matsui Kancho did get his Shodan after just over one year. And he was 14 years old. Kancho Shokei Matsui | About us || IKO Kyokushinkaikan ), but I don't quite see the benefit in being negative about someone who seems so positive. Maybe you can be specific as to why you feel so strongly about this subject? Osu!

I know we sometimes wonder along our merry thread pathways and go a little off track, sometimes ever follow a more interesting path than the original post offered but how did we get from Sublimo paying tribute to a great learning experience at the hands of an accomplished martial artist to Olrac in high heels
![]() Maybe Mink is right, this is a kyokushin forum and we should only discuss serious issues (like chat up lines and how to get girls to notice you?) but I for one LOVE this forum for exactly this reason keep it coming, except the image of Olrac in heels, that's just bad taste.

I've had the pleasure to meet Bas twice, and both times I was impressed not only with the amazing amount of knowledge he possesses but also how down-to-earth and funny he is. A classy, exceptional fighter and my all-time favorite UFC fighter. I've even began collecting a lot of his old Pancrase fights.
My only regret is the only picture I ever got with him isn't a great one. I bet you got a lot out of that seminar, OSU!

I am a hero to
I battle my demons every day :-) Anyway I saw a instructional video of Bas and he said he had a black belt in BUDOKAI KARATE, he didn't say KYOKUSHIN. And budokai karate is from nepal! |

Osu! Kankudai,
I suspect he meant the International Budokai Kan of Kaicho Jon Bluming, and not the group to which you refer. (Note: I couldn't find him on the list of Godans, but my eyes are a bit fried.)Osu!

Was the "muay thai master" they were referring to Melchor Menor? If so, they shouldn't be shocked that Bas who outweighs Melchor by quite a few pounds is able to kick harder!
![]() I find the "mma kick" label pretty funny, too considering Bas has a Kyokushin and Thaiboxing background! I have a lot of respect for Bas and have always liked his "style".

What organization did you do your MMA fights under? Are they pro? can I look you up on sherdog? I always am suspicious of somebody with a supposed decent background in MMA, boxing, muay thai who than does a back handed compliment/insult to than say they prefer Kyokushin. Does Bas wear a Kyokushin Gi and hand out Kyokushin rank to those that he trains? No, he sure doesn't. He trains pro MMA fighters and has a wealth of knowledge with his years of experience just like any top Muay Thai, knockdown, kudo, BJJ, etc. fighter does. You can't buy that kind of knowledge so every time I have the opportunity to learn from somebody I learn from them..I could care less what style they are a proponent of. Bas seems very honest with his martial art background. The more I train the more similarities I see between all MAs and the more |
