Question What food(s) are the best for strength/muscle?
What food(s) are the best for strength/muscle? I hear that Brocolli has a lot of protein in it. I love chicken!!! more than beef

A suggestion of mine would be to prepare a protein shake and drink it immediately after working out. That way your body will be able to use the protein and not eat away at the muscles you've just built.

At my gym it was recmommended to me to cut out bread for lunch and have a portion of Basmati Rice and a tin of tuna in brine (80gms). Now I feel I have more energy and it helped me to cut down on my calorie intake and lose some excess weight.

Osu! What's not good in the bread? It's not all the bread right? Some breads are really good and nutritional but can't beat can of Tuna!

Daisukey I think it was starchy carbs he wanted me to reduce in an effort to drop a few kilos I had gained. The rice was a replacement for the bread. And as you said you cant beat tuna for protein.

The food with the highest protein content is duck meat!! Followed by other meats (beef, chicken, lamp and pork i think!), then fish (tuna is the highest), then egg and milk products, nuts and seeds, and lastly fruit and veg.

But some products high in proteine are also high in fat - so if you're looking for protein only, I reckon protein drinks are the best, whei protein is considerred the best.

Kangaroo is very high protein, low fat, tasty, and much friendlier to the envionment than beef!
Fish-wise, tuna has higher protein and lower fat than salmon.

there is only so much protein that your body can absorb in a given day - so becareful not to go crazy on protein loading or you will just end up 'storing' the excess...

Exactly, it gets worse:

You're body can absorb a limited amount of proteins for a given amount of time (few hours) so taking a 100 gram protein shake will be a waste of time.
You will piss all of the proteins right back out.
you need a lot of proteins at breakfast lunch and dinner if you want it to work right

I would suggest drinking a protein shake one hour to 15 minutes before working out. Never drink/take more than 40grams of it at a time though, like A-jay said, itll be a waste of time. Also drink lots of water.

i wouldnt reccomend going the zero fat route..Fat is essential for the body and especially important for men as it supports testosterone levels.

Ive been lifting for about 9 years now and once i tried the zero fat way whilst trying to diet.i lost weight sure but also looked a bit scrawney.

I then went on a med/high fat diet and started to fill out whilst losing weight(fat loss) still. Most nutritionists will say fat is important as long as its mostly healthy fats but you can still treat yourself to burgers, pizza's now and again.

This is the diet that i have been on for a while and i have got stronger with it.

OSU!
