A lot of people swear by glucosamine. Personally, I've been taking it daily for nearly a year with little or no results.

As boldbhoy has said alot of people find it beneficial i personally don't use it. But you could give it a go and see if it helps you. Make sure your muscles in your lower back are also well stretched. It really helps especially with the splits and takes alot of pressure of the joints.

If glucosamine doesn't work for you an alternative is 'green lipped mussel extract'.

I've heard this stuff is excellent! It's just a bit too expensive for me.
Perhaps someone knows where to get it cheap?

From what i have been told, glucosamine has not really been proven or dis-proven.

I damaged the meniscus cartlidge very badly (the one between the thigh and shin bone) it will never be the same and will eventually wear out. Essentially / simply i have osteo-arthritis in the knee

As has been previously mentioned, a lot of people swear by it, they say it helps the cartlidge repair (as much as cartlidge can, which isnt much) and they also say it takes away some of the pain.

I take it everyday, although i cant say if it really helps. As my knee injury was sudden, (one day i was fine, next i'm not ) , i have nothing to compare. I have no before or after

I take it because, well, it can't hurt!

I used it for 2 years with no results..... I then switched to Raw unfilted organic apple cider vinager, and within 3 months the results was staggering. Not only did it help my joints it also help my nerves and lungs as wells.........

How do you take it JM? I mean is it just a tablespoon a day sort of thing?
And what is the theory behind it? Why does it work?

I'm always after something to help the knee pain!

glucosamine
hi all,

maybe the glucosamines help only when the dosage is right or the quality is high.

maybe it depends on individuals.

a student of our dojo takes glucosamines and they are working well. without this supplement training would not be possible in the choosen intensity.

here in europe, we have difficulties to get some vitamins, minerals and other supplements depending on european/national law. if the dosage is to high, you can get them only in pharmacia - very expensive... ;-( some supplements are only available on receipt.

so be lucky in us, nzl or anywhere else to have a good quantitiy and quality of this health foods, needed not only by hard training kyokushin karatekas for a cheap price.

@jap man: can u tell us more about this product u use?

domo arigato!

go to www.bragg.com
Note you must only us "Raw Unfilter Organic Apple Cider Vinigar"
Anything else (missing any of the wordsi) is not the same!!!
ACV (appple cider vinigar) helps to reduce pain in the body as well clear the mucus in the lungs. It also helps with circulation in the body, to name a few benifits.

PS I added an "S" in the address to Bragg it is www.bragg.com please take not.
I take it 3 X's a day before meals, I drink it straight from the bottle, a good mouth full. It may burn your throat a little but you get use to it. Make sure you shake the bottle each time to get the Mother { not mother as in mom} of the bottom.

If you go to Bragg's site they have several books on ACV and its effects.
