What are those Ion products in Japan that I hear quite often???
I believe that they are called "Minus Ion" in Japan. Vapor san, or starkodama san. Have you heard of this "Minus Ion" thing in japan? They have "Ion" in drinks as well.. I wonder what's so good about it. ![]() |

Dear nzproud,
If I remember well, this "ion water" is merely a "diet" version of the original pocari sweat. OSU!

The only ion product I can think of off the top of my head is the one you have pictured, Ion Water, which as kakatooshi-san said is really just a diet version of Pocari Sweat.
The big trend in drinks right now seems to be amino acids. There was even a Kyokushin drink called Ichigeki a while back, but I don't remember if it had amino acids in it or not... The drinks are yummy but I've never noticed any kind of benefits from drinking them. They're expensive and have a lot of calories, so I usually drink water or tea while training. :P |

Minus Ion was touted as a healthy way to refresh yourself through oxygen.
While it has toned down some, a lot of home appliances, including wall mount airconditioners, humidifiers, and even washing machines were designed to emit "Minu ion". The easiest way to explain minus ion (non-scientifically) is the affect that you feel directly after the rain has stopped.... The air feels crisper and there is something "in it"....that is suposidely minus ion, and the relaxing benefits are what are focused on with these type of products. So, the drinks run on the same principal...better oxygen particles to relax you and help you stay healthy. (the reason I say that this was a trend, was there there was little more than hype to back up the claims--i.e. not hard credible evidence...) vapor |

Amino acids are molecules from proteins. Thus consuming amino acids is just like consuming proteins, without the digestion process. Therefore, absorption of amino acids (proteins) will be quit faster. Proteins are important in rebuilding cells.
