wholemeal bread (if it is high quality, and not merely white bread with some darkening colour thrown in) is better for you because it is higher in fibre (which reduces constipation, and helps lower future risk of bowel cancer), lower in glycaemic index (because the wholegrains hang on to the carbs longer, avoiding the sugar rush). This means it keeps you feeling fuller for longer.

I am also of the opinion that it tastes better.

People who think they don't like wholemeal bread, just haven't found the right variety yet.

I'm assuming wholemeal is what we call whole wheat???
What is the diffference between wholemeal bread and white bread? (EUFIC)

Simple answer white is processed so much more and "bleached" .

All bread is not really good or best for you, but Multi-grain Organic is best if you are going to eat bread, Organic Spelt bread (no glutens) is a better alternative to any bread, but it takes a little to inquire a taste for.
