Question Avocado good or bad?
What do you think about Avocado in nutrition wise? I used to dislike it but now I'm addicted to it. It goes real well with salad and it taste like sashimi with shoyu(japanese soy sauce).

Gotta love chicken bacon avocado burger!

Avocado's are high in fat (compared to other vegetables and fruit) but they contain components that are reported to help reduce cholesterol

I don't even want to ask what the calorie count is on that burger...although it looks divine!

One of the izakaya (Japanese pubs) that my wife and I frequent in Asakusa, has a salad with lettuce, tuna sashimi, avocado, square blocks of creme cheese, and soy sauce based dressing....that is always the first thing ordered the moment we sit down!!

  1. Avocados contain 81 micrograms of the carotenoid lutein, which some studies suggest may help maintain healthy eyes.
  2. Avocados are included in Fruits & Veggies—More MattersTM consumer educational program to promote increased consumption of fruits and vegetables for good health.
  3. Avocados contribute nearly 20 vitamins, minerals and beneficial plant compounds that can contribute to the nutrient quality of your diet.
  4. Avocados, due to their mono and polyunsaturated fat content, are a healthy substitution for foods rich in saturated fat.
  5. One-fifth of a medium avocado (1 oz) has 50 calories and contributes nearly 20 vitamins and minerals making it a good nutrient choice.
  6. Avocados contain 76 milligrams beta-sitosterol in a 3-oz serving of avocado. Beta-sitosterol is a natural plant sterol which may help maintain healthy cholesterol levels.

So when are you having us all over for dinner? That sounds fab!

Seriously, Avo is seriously good for you. One of the heart doctors in the town where I work tells all his heart attack patients to eat Avocado (and macadamias). I agree, that the benefits far outweigh the calorie count. (which is, relative to things like meat and cheese) is quite low.

First off seienchin, if you are going to fly all that way for dinner, then anytime is fine!
Note:
all the meat (that humans eat from duck to pig) is half the fat and double the protein of cow.
Though it takes about 5-7 days for your body to digest pig (pork).

The bar/pub/restaraunt we went to last night put avocados on our nachoes. Made the plate look cool, but they were kicked to the curb (side of the plate).

I bust out the avocado on toast with tomatoes for breakfast. Damm tasty and a good substitute for butter or marg(which is the devils food in my opinion!). Avocado is a super food so don't feel bad about eating it...especially the way you train NZProud!

Avocado's may have "A lot of fat" but it's of the "healthy" variety that our bodies need in order to function properly (think like olive oil), unlike saturated or trans fats which are the worst kind of fats for us and their intake should be limited.

Mom has an avocado tree so I get plenty of fresh (and free) avocados. They make for great Japanese style avocado sandwiches. Just put avocado with lettuce, tomato, mustard, and mayo between two pieces of toasted high quality bread. There you go.

Avocado is supposed to be very good for the skin.

Yeah...we Aussies call it vegemite...and it is FAB. Stuff upon which to buld a nation. Tasty. (salty), no fat, no protein, no carbs...in fact, not much except salt and vitamin B.

But is YUM with Avo and cottage cheese.
