My wife and I have our favorite Korean BBQ place in Asakusa...it is a little out of the way, simple place...most of the customers are Korean...way cheap, and so so good!

Cave-Dent say, "Marg nah vall karburg rah! Munch, munch, chew!" Good thing supper is nearly ready. This thread's enough to make me break the no eating out rule. ![]() Osu!

(I see this degenerating into another feedbag session. Just the thought of that little place is enough to make me lament the local, um, and I use this word as broadly as possible, restaurants. Osu!

Osu! I'm all about bang for the buck/yen. The best Korean BBQ in Tokyo can be had without taking out a home equity loan. OTOH, you can blow your childs' college tuition on fugu and still need to top-off on yakiniku before the last train.
I miss the little shops around Meguro and Setagaya. Quote:

Cute, very cute! No plastic food to be seen anywhere.Anyone here know the place in question? Big old bowls of Soba not even half a block in the opposite direction of the IKO1 Hombu. A few tables outside, and the most friendly chefs I met in all of Tokyo. (Dang. Now it's got me thinking about a variety of places, all good, and I'm all hungry. )Osu!

osu! Kurisu, oishisoo! You could improve the picture by adding a few more ribs and subtracting a few more tablespoons of rice.
![]() It's a sunny Saturday-perfect for a backyard BBQ extravenganza. Fire-up the grill boys and girls. Have a good weekend. |

Osu!
Back from the great outdoors, and it seems that many of my fellow men have lost the fine art of cooking meat over an open fire. Without all the bits of equipment, gas or electricity, and ready made food, they are lost, and in need of restaurants. ![]() Imagine yourself in an area with lots of wood, stones and boxes and coolers full of supplies. The possibilities for overeating are tremendous. ![]() I hope that each of you will take some time to go camping this year. Whether it's winter or summer in your area, go cook something outdoors, and no equipment other than matches. Challenge! ![]() Osu!

Osu! I recently saw a documentary on Marine Corps combat survival training. The Marines were taught to start fires by the bow and drill method. Another part of the course required that each Marine slaughter a rabbit and use every bit of it as they weren't permitted any other food. Raw rabbit eyes served as appetizer. The rest of the rabbit was intended to last for several days. Each Marine lost about 10 pounds on the rabbit diet.
Baby steps. If you cook with a gas grill, switch to hard wood charcoal and a chimney starter. I've caught and cooked fish, but never anything with red meat. A boar hunt with BBQ to follow would be the ultimate challenge! For the moment I get my chops from Food Emporium. ![]() |

Osu meguro,
Shooting and eating wild pork is not only great fun but very tasty. I recently did this last year in NT (Northern Territory:- tropical Australia for those who dont know) on an Air boat. Crocodiles everywhere and great barramundi fishing... google Arnhem Land to get a perspective.

Tonight's menu calls for a standing rib roast. I wouldn't mention it in a thread about cooking with flame, but this hunk of Flinstones style meat is a thing of beauty. I'll have salad tomorrow.

Osu! Vapor, you should do a taste test between the best Korean bbq that Palisades Park and Fort Lee and your favorite joint in Asakusa. It's for a good cause.

Made a wicked psuedo-Thai dish. All the right stuff, with grilled beef. So spicy my scalp was sweating! ![]() Osu!

I have been to a couple in Fort Lee...there is no comparison!! Asakusa hands down!! My wife went to a super hi-end place in Shinjuku with some friends (well known to be the stomping grounds for celebrities)...and she said that even paled in comparison! vapor
