Well, one thing i have noticed for sure is that every summer it gets hotter and every winter there is less and less snow.
This winter there is hardly any snow! Global warming is a huge concern that people should learn to consider.

I agree, every year the summer gets hotter and winter colder.
Im in Australia and its summer here. The temperatures in my city, Melbourne , have been ranging from 34 - 42 degrees celcius! Melbourne is renowned for its cold weather an rainfall, yet we are in a severe drought and permanent water restrictions have been in place for years. Its the same all over the country, the farmers are having the worst time of it as they are unable to harvest a consistently decent crop. It hardly even rains in winter anymore, it is rare to see a front lawn that is green anymore as all the grasses have dried out, the grass is always brown now. That is if your grass still grows at all. Our newly elected government promised to address global warming in a big way. I hope so. |

UK Government today announced it will restart its Nuclear power station building program Guy on the radio said it was a great idea and was complaining that the wind farm near him was an eyesore, what a NIMBY - we need a government who can look at the big picture and stop just saying what will get them reelected in 2 years time.

Well thank God for that!! but does that change moving forward to a less wastful and shelfish way of life? I do worry that this could become a common, in my opinion missconception of the issue as politics and global corporations use it to make money or as a method of control.

Osu!
I hear about all the GW issues, and I'm all for conservation and going green, but I'm not feeling the warmth of all this global warming. It's the 20th of April, and I'm wearing track pants, t-shirt and thick top. And that's just indoors. If they're going to advertise all this heat, the least they could do is send a little my way. ![]() Osu! |

Yes, this issue really bothers me. I heard that this summer we might witness the North Pole without ice covering for the first time in the history.
Well, I try to save energy as much as possible. One good tip for being eco-friendly and energy-saving: unplug all the appliances when they are not on use, whether it is TV, DVD player, computer, microwave, etc. Well, you can't really unplug refrigerator anytime . I hope the next US president (whether Obama or McCain) will sign the Kyoto protocol again. Peace! ![]() |

Not to be too pessimistic here, but as we approach the 7 billion population mark, and as each of those 7 billion wants a more industrialized lifestyle, we can kiss most of the efforts to stop global warming goodbye. The inevitability of human nature... Osu!

....to act like an all consuming parasite
.IF we all looked to live a more humble existence and IF the growing economies can stifle the rush for Cars, DVDs and flat screen TV's we as a species has a hope but we have to face a harsh reality - greed kills; even on a global scale. What is a dead cert is if we do nothing we will achieve less than nothing because we need to reduce what we do just to stand still, again as a species. The only ones who are in a position to make a difference right now are those in the 1st World - it is no good looking to the emerging economies and expecting them to make the same level of reduction as us, yes they consume more than they ever have but it's still a fraction of what we do or have for decades.

One of my dream is founding a eco-friendly company for either manufacturing or distributing green products, such as solar panels and windmill generators. my dream market? The Human Republic of China! I really think it's gonna be a great business

In poorer countries you see some amazing stuff as necessity is the foundation of all invention, the best I've seen was a solar water heater made from old bottles, the guy collects enough bottles then is moving through the village setting everyone up with one - this is ecology not buying you're electricity from a conglomerate who invests 0.5% of it's turn over in a wind farm project so it can call itself green.

Looking on the bright side - there's been a documentary on British TV (channel 4 I think) - 'Life after humans' - what would happen if people would just dissapear today. In 100 years there would be almost no trace of our existance at all - nature would recover and trive. Th eobly things remainin would be the piramids, great wall of China and some other ancient rock buildings. Oh, and Mount Rushmore. Other than that, concrete and metal will crumble within 25 to 50 years - paper and digital recordings of our culture would be gone within roughly the same ammount of time!
We are but a spot on the face of the earth (even if these days we look more like acnee )
