Thanks for that Bloke - so returning the thread to its tittle 'what did I learn this week' - I leaned that even if it takes you 18 years to get your second Kyu so long as the grading is hard enough you still feel like you've achieved something worthwhile.

I'd say ESPECIALLY if it takes you 18 years...Congratulations. That is one heck of a journey. Maybe 1st kyu a little quicker????

We each have a journey and a story to tell - my lesson learned over the last 18 years is that Kyokushin is something I will never let go out of my life again, each time I’ve come back to it I’ve regretted the time away and appreciated it more so no, it shouldn't take another 18 years, pref less than 18 months!!

I've learned that there is this restaurant completely run by a staff of blind people. The setting is in complete darkness to give the guests the experience on how it feels to be blind. Someone I know that had gone, had told me about the experience. In the lineup before being seating, everyone has their hand over the shoulder of the person in front of them. A person calls your name and guides you to your seat (remember in complete darkness), then the waiter comes with your order and calls it out, you respond, and he/she taps you on your shoulder and places it in front of you.
Apparently, people talk louder than usual, and the food tastes better (probably because the your taste sense is hightened without the sight). Something i am considering to try out.

I found out today that if you ask the right people for good ideas, you get great ideas in return!
(asked one of the ad agencies that I used to work for to come up with some ideas late last week, and smiled through the entire presentation this morning as they went above and beyond our expectations!) vapor

I found out this week that when emailing instrctors over the holidays they take their time, regardless of significance. I'm still waiting on a boxing instructor and a TKD instructor to respond though I sent them well over a 2 weeks ago.
I've also learned that everyone has been a hypocrit atleast once in their lifes. |
