Not yet, Bloke. Honestly, the condition that he suffered from is about as ghastly a condition as I could ever imagine. Truly hell on Earth.

Still, if you recommend it, I will find it and read it. I'm sure there must be some inspiration for life as it can be lived.

Just picked up Paramhansa Yogananda's The Wisdom of Yogananda Vol 1, How to Be Happy All the Time. Don't let the title scare you away.

It's a great read for subway reading and reminds you of some of the things we forget to think about. It's a "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff..." by a Yogi. Good for Karateka too.

Osu!

Just finished "Working with Warriors" by Dennis Martin.

Now I know practical stuff isn't everyones reason for training, but if it is this book is full of useful tips. Two of the characters involved, Terry O'Neill (Shotokan) and Gary Spiers (Goju) could definately make their training work .... Not for the squeamish.

I was very surprised when Gary Spiers passed away a few years ago. For those who don't know of him, this article may enlarge somewhat on the man himself: CQB Services GARY SPIERS INTERVIEW

I am now reading through the new book by the founder of The Chopra Center, and NY Times best seller, Deepak Chopra, Jesus- a Story of Elightenment

This is another book that I picked up at my printers...it is a really quick read, and causes one to ponder a bit.

I agree - just finished Azincourt. Never get tired of reading about English Bowmen sticking two fingers up to the French.

I will start a new one today (I told you the previous book was a quick read!)

Last Days of Summer, by Steve Kluger

The back cover summarizes the book as: The tenth anniversary edition of a contemporary American classic- a poignant and hilarious tale of baseball, hero worship, eccentric behavior, and unlikely friendship

We shall see....

I think you being a little bit mean with the french...kkkkk...i'm just kidding. Azincourt is the next book I'm going to buy. I'm just waiting until it gets here in Brazil at a reasonable price.

Apparently my youngest is either going to love gardening, or hate it. She just hauled it off my nightstand, and took a bite out of the cover!

Osu! Gary,

I would be careful about that one Gary - you might just get sued!

You've got to laugh really. OK history is written by the winners, but the book details attrocities committed by BOTH sides. Let's guess they're not declaring themselves war criminals as well.

The only history books I rely on are old ones - before all this touchy feely let's pretend Europe is one big happy interbred family crap - and when it was still OK to say we hated the (insert any nationality here) without being fingerprinted and DNA tested for hate crime.

This should probably be moved to the "What bugs me" thread!

LOL

Alf's a top man - my hero in fact.

I wonder what all these Town Hall types who come out with all this PC rubbish think of him now? Horrified I'd guess.
