Don't feel silly - it happens all the time. If the break isn't obviously displaced, then it can be hard to tell.
This is your chance to work on your kicks...and the punches with the other hand. Best of luck with your recovery, and look after that wrist when the cast comes off. ![]()

You're in good company Chuck and all the best with your recovery. I have broken (in no particular order) my arm, collar bone, wrist, ribs (several times and several) and my ankle. I have also strained several tendons and pulled many a muscle some of which have lead to long term problems. I can only recall once actually thinking 'this ain't good I'd better stop now!' This was last year when I tore my bicep tendon. The rest of the time I felt, 'oh that's uncomfortable might have to rest that later'.
I guess the best/worst was my ankle, snapped it clean off and it traveled out of position, helped load the van and drove back to where I was staying, jammed a load of pain killed down my throat and went to bed; 4-6 hours later drove to the hospital only to be told I'd have to have an instant op to reposition and pin it "But my vans in the car-park and it's £4.00 an hour to park!" Was all I could think to say. Was laid up for 14 weeks, lost my job, had to change my career, stopped me training for many many years, piled on a load of weight etc, etc...Was never able to pin the docs down as to how much post trauma damage I'd caused by trying to carry on regardless. ![]()

Ive had this odd feeling in my right foot since i started training kyokushin some 4-5 months ago. After some practices, my foot hurts like hell the day after. Always the right foot. I can walk, but i can hardly put any weight on it (say, if i stand on my toes, or the ball of my foot). However, after i walk around on it a bit, the pain subsides and eventually goes away. Its only sometimes, but its always the right foot.
Something has probably happened to it, but meh. Ill get around to a doctor at some point :P |

Myself, I've never broken anything. I've sprained fingers and toes, but that's it. But two off my toes once stayed sprained for a very long time, and now look very funny - maybe they were broken after all.

Osu!
As the resident Wheelchair Mod , I've broken a few smaller bones without noticing more than a short, sharp pain and then on with the activity.Fortunately, the big ones sound really loud when they snap, and the limb usually flops around afterwards, so they're harder to miss. ![]() Osu!

. All past history now, except when the bloody thing gives way without warning as it did doing Tobi kicks last year at summer camp ![]() You're toe thing reminded me, I have two toes which pop out, normally only when cold & usually about half way through the warm up which is fun when I'm taking it, and as I reach down to pop them back in I realize the rest of the class is copying me ![]()

.I have never broken anything, well maybe ribs but no limbs. My son however had a nasty fall in the garden once, landing on his arm. At the time he seemed more concerned about a graze on his knee, we cleaned him up and set off for a day at the beach. The next day he went to school as usual, went to his swimming class after which he was complaining about pain in his arm. We took him to a+e and after an x-ray turns out it was broken! Apparently it is not always obvious when a child has a break i.e. no swelling or extreme pain.

Funny enough, only my nose got broken twice, for everything else, I never managed to actually break something
, though I had a fissure in the instep, two fissures in the upperarm and one nearly cracked rip... and that's just 5 years of training.Quote:
I had something similar, always in the morning, never could put my foot down. Turns out, my tendon was shortened and it took always some time to get warm. Either way, I'd go to the doctor, since I took a long time to do it and nearly had to wear arch-supports ![]()

I broke my pelvic bone (open book seperation) this past August when a routine jump ended up with a weird parachute accident...at the time I thought I just pulled an inside groin muscle really bad or something and didn't realize that I broke anything.

tmd,
Linguistic differences. The term "snapped right off" sounds to me that it got dismembered. Hat off to you, if that is the case. ![]() Reminds me of a story about a Faeroese in Denmark, who told the people in the bar that he had woken up that morning, with his toe falling off. This perked a lot of interest from the people at the bar, and after a while, the bartender asked him what he did with it. "Couldn't be bothered with it, so I just ripped it off!", he told them. A couple of bikers had overheard, and they were mighty impressed with his manliness. It turned out later that he was talking about his toeNAIL, he just didn't know the proper Danish word for it...

I'm walking somewhat more normal now but can't really run yet...yes, I tried to kind of "jog" across the street the other day just to get to the other side. I have taken a hiatus from physical therapy which is actually helping, IMO, the healing process...and also reduced my painkiller usage to 0...when I was doing physical therapy it would cause me to limp around for a week or more afterwards. I think I will probably be starting physical therapy again in January and hopefully will be healed up enough by than to withstand it and go on a regular basis. I'm thankful I can walk but still am hoping to heal up more and get my somewhat normal range of motion back again so I can train "normal" again. I'm not sure if I will be able to run again like I used to be able too...fortunately in the US Army they have alternative events for people like me on the PT test which means stationary bicycle or walkig a certain length in a certain amount of time. Unfortunately, this ruins my plans of becoming an officer but I can't complain, I am alive and am able to walk. I was also on a 4 hour work day profile which really meant just 2.5 hours less of work but was still getting a full work load so I had that brought back to a normal work day by my choice..I could have stayed on that for at least a month longer if I wanted. I am able to do some boxing combinations and occasionally throw some gedanmawashigeri and muay thai teep(front push kick). I must confess they are very slow and don't have that much power but I've always been in the habbit to walk around where I live and kind of "shadowbox" and throw some techniques as I'm sure many of you do, too..this is a habbit I've been doing for almost 20 years. I know many of you have had ankle, knee, back problems and so on and have been through a similar situation as me. Lots of fun, huh? ![]()
