Toshinkai means "True spirit" Kyokushin means "The Ultimate Truth" or "Perservering Spirit"

Toshinkai(kan) is not a big organization in Japan, but the "Battle Front" tournament that they develop is quite famous. Both Luciano Basile (6th WT IKO-Matsui Brazil representative, now Seiwakai) and Kitajima Yuyu (World Heavyweight Champ of the 1st Byakurenkaikan Championships) have won it.
"To" means "fighting" or "struggle" and "Shin" means "truth" (same as kyokushin). So I gather together they mean "true battle" or something like that. OSU!

Dear kyokushin4life,
From the kanji names the links are not from the same organization (like "Seido Juku" and "Seido Kaikan"). OSU!

it's cool to come accross more knock down based karate styles. i learn about a new one all the time. it's great to see some many of us on similar paths in ideologies.

I still have not found any details, but I have found that Toshinkai under Yuji Shimizu is a kyokushin offshot. But the when&why, or Yuji Shimizu record from kyokushin -no idea.

Dear Martin H,
I know that Shimizu Kancho was a yudansha in Shitoryu. I am not sure if he has studied Kyokushin. OSU!

The only thing that would make me think he is from Kyoksuhin is that he and Toshinkai are mentioned on Shahs Kyokushin Lineage page.

I remember there being guys from Toshinkai competing at the tournament I took part in in Shanghai last saturday. I asked one of the other guys wether he knew anything about them and his answer was: "Our organisation (Kenshikaikan) used to be a part of Kyokushinkaikan and at that time they wore uniforms with Toshinkai printed on it." (????)I said: "Yeah, ok, that makes sense." ^^ So now I know! Thanks for the info!
