the reason that Sosai being envolved with the Yakuza is three of his students Kurosaki Kenji, Maki Hisao and Soeno Yoshiji are yazkuza. Furthermore, Kurosaki Kenji, Maki Hisao were the top instructors of the Oyama dojo and early kyokushinkaikan. |

I've heard some stories about Sosai and the Yakuza. I don't have any hard evidence that there was direct involvement with the Yakuza however I do know for a fact that Sosai was held in high respect.

Please don't be so naive and again don't take what I said too seriously either. It's just a bit of humor on my part because that IS an actual picture of Shihan Maki and that is THE ACTUAL LOOK of a Yakuza. Whether he's playing off the fact that people think he's Yakuza or if he really is, I don't know because I'm not familiar with him but if there's people who know better and say he is, I won't argue against them.
I don't know if it's talked about much but the fact that high-ranking Yakuza in order to better themselves trained in dojo's. Many of the younger Yakuza these days train/hang-out at some MMA Gyms these days too. I'm pretty sure Kendo's Yakuza affiliation is pretty big due to the fact they want to remain close to their "Samurai Roots". A man of Sosai's stature is above and beyond a Yakuza and he's Karate baka before anything else. Last edited by sokaiya; 12-01-2006 at 03:51 PM. |
