What students of kurosawa dojo are up to???
Osu. I came across a kurosawa dojo homepage in the directory so I was reading his blog. It seems like a few pf his top students will be competing in coming up kyokushinkan tournament and byakuren karate tournament next month.

Osu.

His dojo looks very "modern". Does anyone know if he's just teaching Karate or if there's an MMA element to their training?

Looks to me like the floor is judo matting - not at all suitable for straight karate. I can't imagine someone asking their students to train on this unless they WERE going to be doing some groundwork involving rolls and throws. Too hard on the knees otherwise, for no benefit. Imagine trying to do ura on that!

Might i add that the padded floor and uneveness of things with regards to ura may "improve" the student's overall balance?

The floors look to me to be "mid" depth flooring and not as harsh as some of the other floors i have seen.

Caution as stated above, should be taken when utalizing circular, knee rotation movement etc whilst doing ura or similure techniques or stances which may be affected by the flooring etc, but as we all know its the "You only get good at what you do" type of attitude which move ones forward.

Might i also just point out the nice padded walls for bouncing students off in kumite, hhmm, or is that just me?

It crossed my mind too, but then I realised I could still throw them into the edges
