Neat-o! I had no idea there was a dojo that far north. Is Sensei Per Backman their official branch chief, then? As of their website, they travel to Tierp for their graduation. Which is nearly 1200 km (745 miles). Did someone say dedication?

Kiruna in the winter is cold! Very, very, cold! I think the record there is about -50 C (-58 F). -30 is common.
But heating and house insulation are good :-) Interesting trivia. they are going to move the whole city over a couple of years. They want to expand a mine under its current position, so they are building a completely new one a few miles away, tearing down the old. They have a shin-kyokushin dojo there too. Living in the north of sweden (middle actually, but tell that to the people in the south), and having roots not that far away from kiruna, I dont find it all that exotic :-) Tromsø in norway is actually even further up north than kiruna, and there is a kyokushin dojo there. I think I heard my shihan said something about him maybe going as a guest instructor to that camp in kiruna. Not sure. I may mix up the camps.

Osu,
@martin. If your shihan is Nygren, he's going to a camp in the end of october to Boden. Only 200 km from Kiruna ![]() Kiruna is nice if you like snow. They usually get a lot of it. In Kiruna they do Kyokushin, judo, Ashihara (2 dojos, NIKO and sabaki-do) and jujutsu. |

That was it. Well, you know how it is, we are talking northern sweden so 200km are nothing. easy to get it wrong :-)

Actually, when the temperature goes below a certain degree (I'd say -10 C/14 F) it doesn't feel as cold anymore. The reason for this, is that the air get's "dryer", because the water in the air freezes - thus you are not exposed to the cold waterr in the air. Something like that, it's a long time since I had physics, but I know this from my own experiences.
