Interesting Sequence To Watch World Tournaments
Watch the 1st World Tournament then watch the 8th World Tournament (IKO-Matsui). The evolution of technique is quite amazing. The 1st WT was much more brutal in my opinion but the technique was not as refined.

Even the growth technically between the 1st and 4th World Tournaments was phenomenal.

It is worth keeping in mind that the first WT also was the first time most of the international fighters (from kyokushin or not) had ever seen the knockdown rules in action. Basically the only ones who had tried them before that was the japanese fighters who had used them a few times in competitions. For most, the first WT was a question of "learn by doing".
