Thanks for posting this! My bf actually participated in the tournament this morning (got eliminated in the first round though). Iwahara Hirokazu and Yasumoto Gaku are both from my dojo, I'm cheering for them!! (in spirit, I'm not actually in Osaka with them.) Are you in Osaka right now yourself?

Dear nzproud,
Sensei Tsukamoto has already got a ticket to the world tournament (top 4 of All-Japan the year before WT) so he does not have to fight this year. Sempai Kobayashi lost to a girl from Tokyo Nishi at round 1 at enchosen by 0-5 . OSU! On Sunday, an official BBS board will carry real-time updates of fight results (in Japanese only). In order to facilitate the smooth operation of their board, please READ only and never leave any comments there! This advice comes from the staff of the BBS board. If you happen to be with your PC, please grab a beer and support your favorite fighters! Have fun! http://jbbs.livedoor.jp/sports/4796/

kakatootoshi-san:
Sorry, I was looking around at that link you posted, but all I could find was the results of the 20th Weight-sei. Is it because they simply haven't posted today's results yet? Thanks. ![]() |

The Japanese Squad at this WT will therefore be:
Tsukamoto Norichika Tsukagoshi Takayuki Suzuki Kunihiro Nemoto Naohiro Tanigawa Kou Yamada Kazuhito Yoshida Tomiwa Kuno Kiyohide Mori Kenta Sakamoto Shinji Watanabe Taishi Yasumoto Gaku (special recommendation. Thanks to StarKodama) I have heard that there may be a total of five fighters on special recommendation. I guess that Shihan Niiho Satoshi and Sensei Maekawa Kenji will be added too. Sensei Maekawa placed second in the 37th All-Japan and he was the guy who stopped Sensei Donatas Imbras in the last world tournament. I now star to gauge who they will place to "welcome" Sensei Vareri Dimitrov and Sensei Donatas Imbras. And will we be seeing strong gaijin slaughtering (like "Nesterenko X Dimitrov) each other in, say, last 32 or 16? OSU!

Thanks for keeping us up to date! You can add one more name to your list of fighters on the Japan squad: Gaku Yasumoto. My bf is back from Osaka and he said that Yasumoto-senshu was chosen by Kenji Midori to join the squad because he got third place at the last Sekai Taikai.
Osu! |

all japan
osu kaka-san,
is it allowed for other organisations to participate at the all japan? are those fighters selected by wko? world champs: sorry, but there will be no chance to stop valeri dimitrov. in my opinion, he is so much better than great andy hug.i have heard, wko will enter "wada". if itīs true we will see clean and fair championships. very fine! have a nice time. OSU! |

Dear goldberg2310,
In the WKO tournaments in Japan, you will always see fighters from some other "friendly groups" (please do not ask which are "friendly groups"). There are even more non-WKO fighters in women's section (some represent the karate club of their schools). Dimitrov is a big favorite but in my opinion it depends on the draw which can be manipulated. I do not think he is being strong to the extent that he will be completely unaffected by the draw. What is "wada"? OSU!

all japan
osu kak-san,
so the all japan must be seen as an open tournament to all japanese fighters (from friendly groups )?wada = world anti doping agency osu! |
|
#15
Dear goldberg2310,
Sorry I do not know how to answer your first question. For the second question, of course this is a good move. But doping has already been done for a long time in WKO (I remember in the 7th WT the guy who got the spirited award was proven positive and his award was given to someone else). I think the quality of refereeing will play a more important role in making a tournament "clean and fair". OSU!

all japan
dear kak-san,
hope you have understand this question. my english is not as good as yours. ;-) yes. you are right. the refereeing plays an important role at those kind of tournaments. shihan midori wathces the european refs who will stay at the wt, at european champs in lithuania... and yes. doping plays always a role. 7th world champs i know whom you mean... also 2002, the all japan champ... hope you know, whom i mean... it shows, tricky guys are sometimes catched. OSU! |

Dear goldberg2310,
I can understand you. I just feel that however "open" a tournament there are always some "small prints". "Openess" is just a matter of degree. I have heard Japanese fighters said that they were unfairly treated in an recent European tournament, and vice versa of course. I hope that we will be seeing refereeing of a high quality in world tournaments of all organizations. Not 2002, it should be 2000 if you are talking about the marijuana incident. OSU!

all japan
dear kaka-san,
so it is... 2000, marijuana. i see you know what i mean. if you talking about the japanese mw fighter at diamond cup, i iagree. your middleweight fighter lost his first round match. donīt know why. all japan champion kanemizu gained first place. your lw too. the japanese heavyweight was a little bit laggy (maybe based on jet lag?).
