Association of kyokushinkai is an organization which represents our martial art in the Ministry of sports. The official members of the association are national federations of IKO (represented by two federations), WKO, IFK and IFFK. Every federation is independent and holds their own tournaments. But last year the association organized united weight category championship (only IKO and WKO) and this year they decide to do "open weight"...

At first, sorry for my spelling: I learnt English at school and am writing only by memory (without dictionary).
Kurbanov is not interested in kyokushin tournaments any more (as far as I heard). His focus is only on 8 WT (his last kyokushin challenge to become world champion) and then only K-1 and specific trainnig and adoptation to its rules. Plus 2 his pupils are going to fight... About his current relationship to Hombu I know nothing... There were some rumours that some tension took place because of terms in contract. But I don't know details Sergey Plekhanov retired. He doesn't want to fight in tournaments any more because of numerous injures. He is an official branch chief now and do a lot of organizational activity in the south of Russia. He said in his last interview that only single kyokushin fights are interest for him. Igor Peplov is a successful couch in St. Petersburg and its Team and runs its regional federation in IFK. A lot of organizational dutis... And his several pupils are going to participate from IFK's side. I'm not sure if he fights anywere more. Maxim Dedik - the couch of Moscow team in IKO (Isakov's federation). Very active in public activity: current member of Superkarate.ru forum, organize through that site regular seminars in Moscow with different kyokushin masters (Kurbanov, Plekhanov, Fransisko Filio, Peplov, Gogonel from Romania and others), several kyokushin camps in India (big fan of Goa), connection with sports tv (martial arts channel "Fighter"). Huge activity... Also he suffered from a serious injure in previous Ichigeki event in Bolgaria and not sure if he can participate even in 8 WT IKO in November... |

Dear igor,
Thank you very much for the news on the Russian team. If Sensei Kurbanov is not going to fight in this (9th) world tournament I am sure a lot of people is going to be disappointed (but good news for the Japanese team). OSU!

Dear igor,
I understand that you were referring to the 9th wt when you mentioned that Sensei Dedik's students were going to fight in November. I hope Sensei Kubanov will be in top form in this world tournament and leave good memories for Kyokushin fans all over the world (of course we will contiune to support him when he enters K-1)! OSU!

It is a pitty that superkarate.ru can not be merged with kyokushin4life due to the language barrier, a merge would be awesome. I used to sit with superkarate.ru and babelfish, took long time to read the interviews =) Last edited by alan; 05-29-2007 at 07:11 AM. |

The Russian did this last year too I thought.
The results are on Kyokushin Results? Darmen Sadvakasov is my sleeper for the 9th WT IKO1 and the Russian Open. Prob a final Eight contender at the very least for both. Isnt it amazing that the Russian are leading the way in cross organisational events. (not interested in this becoming political). But it is great to see the best of the best competing against each other. Osu
