I thought it was ridiculous that they made a decision after only 2 extensions.

If Matsui and Michael Thompson can go 5 extensions in a semifinal, then Filho and Kazumi should have continued on.

Yer I sort of agree but then the rules had changed. There were decisions based on the fighters weight then the number of tameshiwaris they had broken. osu

I thought it was hilarious watching Feitosa cheer and cry behind the mat during the final.

The rules were the same for the 4th WT but Sosai as supreme referee overuled them and demanded they fight on to a clear winner.

I just seen the fight now on youtube and can't BELIEVE that a World Tournament Final... the WORLD TOURNAMENT FINAL was decided by Tamashiwari. Insanity I say!!

I was lucky enough to be there and I was gutted that was how the final went. It felt pre-decided that a foreigner was going to win and it was a strange atmosphere after. The Japanese audience was very quiet & many foreigners were celebrating but even though I'm a foreigner I didn't think it was convincing enough to celebrate! I thought Kazumi was the better fighter at that event... but then I'm a bit of a Kazumi fan. They were so cautious... IMO they needed at least one more round.

I agree - a World Tournament Final should have as many extensions as is necessary to find the Champion.

Osu!

Agreed! That is what will separate the champion from the no. 2 spot.

That said, and trying not to stray from topic, the final of the 8th World was equally disappointing, and I was there, and in some excellent seats.

If we applied Bloke's method, I think it would have changed the whole feeling of the final.

Osu!

Both Kazumi and Filiho didnt do enough to win. They also had easy routes to the final and would Kiyama have won if he had to really beat Kurbanov, Ewerton and then Plekanov.
