Congratulations to all champions and their trainers and supporters. Also a big applause for everyone who stepped into the ring and risked all.

By the way does anyone know if Kalek Mongkhon from Australia is the same guy as Sakmongkol who was a Muay Thai champion and fought in K-1?

Yes kakatootoshi-san you are right. He is currently training in Thailand with Sifu Robert McInnes (trainer of Peter Aerts) and Sensei Judd Reid. He has made the transition from Muay Thai fighting to full-contact karate fighting. |

Trainer of Peter Aerts? As for as I know Peter Grew up by Tom Harink and is now guided by Jan Plas and Thommie Harinck.

Dear buckette,
Thank you. And does he only fight in Kyokushin tournaments or he also really trains in Kyokushin (Kihon,Kata,Kumite)? And has he immigrated to Australia? OSU!

As far as I know, he has only just started entering karate tournaments. This was his first one. He trains in a kung fu style with Sifu Robert McInnes in Thailand, but also trains with Sensei Judd Reid. I don't think he trains kihon, kata etc. And no he hasn't migrated to Australia. I've heard rumours there will be a fox sports documentary on his transition from muay thai to knockdown karate, but not sure if this is actually going ahead...it's all just speculation ![]() |

osu ksan, you are right. heard the same. first day with bad decisions. second day, after foreign countries told the leading japanese, sth is going wrong, it has been better. but not for 100%. next championships will see five refs, from four or five different countries. that´s what i have heard. ![]() |
