Zokko is the word - you can hear it on the video in youtube of the final.

Yeah .....it got a little bit annoying saying it all the time, as good a ref he was. He smacking the Russian on the shoulder to stop pulling was hella funny though.

Lechi was too much for a Japanese Yuto Watanabe. I expected more from Yuto but he couldnt do much against the powerful Lechi.

Yuki Fukui vs a greek Leonidas Antoni.. I thought Leonidas took the fight(at least the 1st round? I dont remember).. anyway Yuki did a lot better vs Licuan Gogonel.

very irritating that "zoko zoko" at all times at 2.07-2.08 they were actually exchanging punches and kicks when the referee was yelling "zoko zoko"

... and whas that Isobe shihan as main referee in the final ?

WOW... after seeing the vids I was just amazed by the way Tanaka and Uchida fought. I mean, they both took A Lot of punishments , barely blocked any hits and moved in a very heavy way... I know that in 4th or 5th round all fighter have injuries and the stamina declines, but they both were regarded as Japan's Aces. Maybe it's just me but I saw no advantage from their side in front of the European guys... I mean if you're the All Japan Champion ( or ex-champ.) you should know, if not only by experience, that this kind of strategy and technique will not get you far.

again, that's my opinion and I have the highest respects for both fighters. I was just disappointed ( As I imagine was Matsui kancho...).

Matsui Kansho is probably disapointed but i guess this was kinda expected.
Russians and specially the brazilians have been training hard and they already have a good share of experience. The brazilians have Filho as a coach who to me is perhaps the strongest Kyokushin fighter at the moment. I think that has a lot of influence in the training.

Regarding Teixeira, i guess his next move is probably K-1. But what about Kurbanov?
I hope to see him first in Ishigeki (K-1 rules) as a preparation for K-1. In fact this might be also the best for Teixeira. Get them some opponents such as Hiraku Hori, Tatsufumi Tomihira, Tsuyoshi Nakasako, Shingo Koyasu, Zabit Samedov, Alistair Overeem, Sergey Gur or maybe some other Kyokushin fighters.

The Brazilian coach is ISOBE not Filho...
Ewerton Teixeira and Eduardo Tanaka are both trained by Shihan Isobe...
of course that Francisco Filho helps a lot... but all their trainment is planed by Shihan Isobe...
BTW: FIlho is "retired" now (from K-1 and from Kyokushin tournaments)

I dont think Teixeira will move to K1... I think Isobe has bigger plans for him...

I don't know why he would be disappointed...as the head of a worldwide organization, to have a tournament with participants from all over the world, with the finalists from a number of countries....with huge attendance from fans....seems like he would be happy about that.

Sure, you could say that it would have been great if the Japan team had faired better....but from a global perspective, it is evidence that kyokushin has surpassed the boundaries of Japan, rooted in countries all over the world, and proven to be a postive force in lives of thousands.

I was referring to the fact that Japan lost. Not only Kansho but all the japanese team are probably disapointed.

As for what concerns the organisation of the event, of course there are no reasons but to be satisfied. Seems like it was a big sucess.
