OK, I'll post all I know but most is only info picked up from the net and nothing exclusive. I am sure most of you already know :-)
Gerard Gordeau - Head of IBK, still The Hauge, holland. Miake Hiroyuki - Lives in Kyoto but has retired from karate. He has sold his dojo and no longer trains due to a permanent injury. Zbniez Matacz - Never fought in this tournament due to visa/passport problems. The actual name of the fighter is Michael Leener. Last thing I heard on Leener was when he was helping out Swedish NHL superstar goal keeper Henrik Lundqvist. Michel Wedel - Proffesor in economics at an Univeristy in USA. Ademir Da Costa - Head of seiwaikai in Brazil. Jan Bulow - County rep and Brach chief of Danish Shinkyokushin organisation. Well respected referee and a great karateka. He actual fought in Japan, Fukokka, in 2005 and won second place in the open weight tournament. Michael Thompson - Last time I met him he was living in Dublin, Ireland, working with a proffesional rugby team. That was a couple of years ago so I do not know if it is still the case. Nicholas da Costa - running an IFK affiliated dojo in London as far as I know. Two of the great fighters has as all of you know sadly passed away. Andy Hug ans Peter Smith, R.I.P. That's what I know, hope it is in any way useful for you :-) Not that many left on the list so maybe we can find out on every single one of them? |

Mike Bracale
Hi there. I am Mike's niece. He isnt really training anymore. Only occasionally. Had a few ops on his knees and ankles so out of it for a while. Still very much involved otherwise. We went recently to the 9th Open World Tournament in Japan last year November. It was awesome@!
He's doing well and lives in Sea Point, Cape town. Still my hero! Regards Natascha Bracale ![]() |

Osu,
Thanks you very much for your update, Bracale13! I am sure many of our members find this little trivia quite interesting. Do you practice yourself? Maybe you could make a thread in the introduction section and tell us a little more about yourself! ![]() Osu! ~ Nix

Yeah - I trained with Mike at the Sea Point Honbu about a million years ago! Great times. Please send him my regards - and why doesn´t he come on here as well? It would be great to hear from him. ![]() ![]() |
