[IKO1] The 38th All Japan Open Karate Tournament
[IKO1] The 38th All Japan Open Karate Tournament
2006 November 18-19 [quote] www.kyokushin4life.com/index.php ![]() A new champion was born last year, "Yoshiaki Uchida" a 22 year young samurai. On the other hand the 36th champion "Kentaro Tanaka" came 8th, what happned to him? This 38th tournament will be interesting to see who will be the champion before the 9th world tournament in 2007. Japanese Contenders: Kentaro Tanaka The 36th All Japan champion. He was rated no.1 Japanese fighter just before the 37th, however his plan was destroyed by Osamu Shiojima, a light weight fighter. Osamu Shiojima A very tough light weight fighter who came 2nd in the 37th tournament, he truly fights with samurai spirits. Tadakuni Tokuda Tadakuni Tokuda is an excellent fighter, always reaching top ranks in tournaments. However, he needs a little bit more of a push to win it all. Tatsuya Kato & Hideo Sawada ![]() These fighters are from Seidokaikan, the fight Tasuya against Osamu Shiojima was a war. His shitazuki and knee are his powerful tools. Masafumi Tagahara & Naoki Ichimura Japanese veteran fighters, still have the potential to fight with younger fighters. Younger fighters have a lot to learn from them. I think among them the strongest at the moment is still Tanaka Kentaro. However when compared with the All-Japan tournaments in which Kazumi was still active, the fights that we now see seem lacking some flavour. As a matter of fact I am more interested in what fighters Russia will bring in this year to try capturing the Japanese title. The first Non-Japanese All-Japan champ...that would be something in the history of kyoukushin!
By the way does anyone know if "Mr. Seido" Koyasu Shingo is still active? He did a good job in representing Seido in the last IKO-Matsui WT. It would be nice to see him fight in kyokushin touraments again. OSU!

I saw Shingo Koyasu fighting in k-1 korea about 2 years ago, he did well against bigger fighters!

Yes I think that was his last known appearance in terms of fighting. But he has disappeared ever since. About fighting bigger opponents I remember his KO of Kondo a few years ago in All-Japan and the jodan kick was spectacular. His "Koyasu Kick" and hairstyle (punk) are just coooool. Too bad he was a natural prey of Kidachi Hiroyuki (lost three times to the same guy).

I was sitting to the right hand side of the pictures...up about 5 rows....
The picture titled "Beppu vs Hovhannisian 1", was probably one of the more impressive moves in terms of the reaction from the crowd. vapor |

Osu,
Great pics. Exciting tournament as presented by the stills. When will a DVD be available? Soon I hope. Can't wait to view the match. I am sure this would be worth the DVD's cost. Thanks for sharing. Osu! |
