OSU !!!
When i used to train, my sensei used to make us lean against the wall face first. We used to form a right angle triangle, with the wall the floor and us. Then in that position he used to make us sort of run into the wall kinda of like a jogging rythym... CAN ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THAT EXCERSISE, AND WHAT MUSCLES YOU ARE STRENGTHING....PLEASSSE !!!!! OSU !!!!!!!! |

I guess what he means is standing a bit out from a wall leaning forwards with head against the wall and running on the spot.
I've never heard of or seen anything like it before, it almost seems like mixing a stress position with a cardio exercise. Last edited by Kriegmaschine; 04-30-2008 at 08:43 AM. |

Osu! This sounds like a warm-up to stretch the hamstrings. The angle produced by leaning against the wall stretches the hamstring that bit further.

No your head is away from the wall.....you lean into the wall with your hands for support, they are a little over your head level.....then you run/jog into the wall.....i really want to know the REAL PURPOSE of this excersise...what is it for ??? I had a sensei that never used to explain everything that he made us do.....he would explain the purpose of most excersises but a few others we were totally totally left in the dark..

Osu!
Whatever it was supposed to be for, I reckon there must be a better way of doing it. For so many to be stymied (And I tried it), I think it may have been a personal invention. Osu!

Grasshopper, it sounds like a variation on the "plank" which is a static exercise to work abs and other core stability muscles. However, the running into the wall would stop it being static..unless you held the "triangle" for 1 -2 minutes and ran in between? Can I ask - which muscles fatigued when doing this. That is usually the best way of working out what it is trying to work (unless, of course, your technique is not right). |

Sounds to me like this is supposed to be a twist on the exercise where you run against a resistance band. You fasten the band on something stationary and put it around the waist, and then run like hell until it pulls you back. This is a dynamic exercise primarily to work the legs. I've never tried the running against the wall version but it doesn't seem like it would be anywhere near as effective...
Again, that's just my guess. Osu!
