I met with my friend today ...
... who invited me to train along with him and another Muay Thai student. Afterwards we talked of Muay Thai and eventually Kyokushin Karate since the other gentleman there, Guy Bartholemew from Ohio is apparently well ranked in the style amongst others such as Judo and Muay Thai. He had many stories from his youth of meeting the champions of the day(he's now about 50) from Japan, Muay Thai and Holland.

Considering our conversation as well as some of the posts I've read here such as the restoration of ball kicking and face punching leads me to conclude that much of the pride that Kyokushin practitioners have stems from their being able to not only stick out the tough training but do it bravely. That is the type of accomplishment I'd like to have as well; achieving black belt in Kyokushin and enduring hard training. I ... am a little ... no, ALOT leery of gettin my teeth knocked out from punches or my balls gettin dislodged ON PURPOSE(jk), but hopefully I can accomplish my aim in the next 4 or 5 years.

I study now with Sensei Willliam Brown, here in Charlotte NC. He is from NYC and has trained with many notable Kyokushin Masters over the years.
