Fighting a kickboxer.

Mustang and I are fighting kickboxers in about a month. It will be in kyokushin rule with a permission of clinching up to 3 secs, during the time I believe that you can do knees etc..

What are they good at??? What will they not expect from kyokushin fighters?

Dear nzproud,
Obviously they are veterans in clinching so you must work on the scenario of clinching/anti-clinching. And you can always expect some "accidental" face blows from your opponents so do not panic or get angry. A very important advantage of you is the use of strong shita tsukis (in bare knuckle) along the clinching zone and I would suggest you to work on this strike to make sure it BANGS at different distances.

Hey guys
I was wondering, if its bareknuckle and 3 second clinch rule, wouldnt the KB dude have a huge advantage by being able to pull us down from our gi?
Would it be a good idea to not wear our gi's if this is the case?

Training on! I don't think the ref will allow the kickboxer to pull our gi, but it is likely to hapeen. So be cautious about it. And also I heard that they will wear gloves.. what about us??

i fought a kickboxer in the trans tasman masters in feb in Auckland .he had strong thigh kicks with a big load up ,then he would ducked down with his head and follow up with a few punches in close .(it was kyokushin rules )so i did a hiza geri and knocked him out .
fight hard and do not give up

something that they do not expect in general is for you to deliver a shita/fuke tsuki to the liver as they tie you up around the neck...

also remember pushing them back to break the clinch is a valid technique...good follow up would be mawashi geri to the ribs or down into the hip...
