Its short for ”Oshi shinobu no seishin”. ”Oshi shinobu” (commonly shortened to or Osu) means to persevere or to endure under pressure. "Osu no Seishin" roughly translates, persevere or endure by willpower. Or the spirit to endure.

This is sort of a double post (sorry) i had already posted it by the time i found this one. B. Osu No Seishin The Spirit Of Perseverance This attitude is one which will serve you in every aspect of your life. Our training attemps to develop a 6th sense which makes possible a spontaneity of thought that can make your techniques lightning fast. Others may say, "It's impossible because it is too difficult" We say, "It's difficult but not impossible." There is an old adage that says it all - " Even though a person may defeat 1000 others in battle, it is he who conquers himself that is the greatest warriors" Source: The Guide to the Kyokushin Karate-Do of Shihan Gary Viccars, 7th Dan |
