First Class Tommorow
Hey guys after looking around locally for a kyokushin school and having no luck in the RI area I found marubashi dojo in ashland, MA which is a little over an hour away from me. I'm going to my first class tommorow and very much looking forward to it. Only worries I have are about keeping up with everyone else as i'm a big guy and haven't practiced Martial arts in a few months being out with an injury. Anybody have any tips or advice for me on my first class?

Dear Darkside,
Be extremely polite. Do not ask questions, just try your best to follow. If you feel uncomfortable, politely let your instructor know your body cannot cope with. Do not simply stop things by yourself. I give the above advice to people even face to face. OSU!

I was so nervous for my first lesson, I am out of shape and overweight. But it was great, the other students were training for a knockdown tournament and it was tough. The sensei just told me to do what i could and not to overstretch myself. That was a month ago and now I'm totally hooked. I can feel the difference already. Each session gets slightly easier!!

You are likely neither aged nor decrepit. For some of us, almost every class is harder than the last one, never mind ten, twenty or thirty years ago. ![]() Osu!
